Friction8r: Delectable! The cutesy Fark Lib Circle Jerk Club has again shown up in full force to disparage a candidate, while ignoring the fact that the guy they voted for 4 years ago is full of fail! "Well he's better than the alternative ZOMG!" That's all the artillery they have, except for "yeah but obstructionist republican derpity doo." Nice!

First, Obama is hardly "full of fail". Second, even if the only reason to vote for him was "well, he's better than Romney", isn't that all the reason you need? I suppose you have some third party throwaway your vote candidate you want to suggest instead?

Young people are the ones who get screwed over the worst, and it's because they are too ignorant to realize how important voting is

Full of fail? citation_needed.jpg

You generalize about us "Fark Libs" and then throw down a completely subjective assessment about one's track record.

Tell you what, I'll give you until post 200 to prove without a shadow of a doubt why Obama failed. If you can't, *plonk*, because you're wasting our time with your nonsense. Facts.... or GTFO.

No, people correctly point out you can't set the record for filibusters and any other partisan tricks, hold the country hostage to your demands as the minority party, then at the end complain how they never got anything accomplished.

All the artillery YOU have is to say "Obama isn't the Messiah after all!"

Yes, all he did was stop the hemorrhaging of jobs, work to get everyone basic healthcare, finally allow gay people to serve in the military, and end the war in Iraq... it's hard to see how this could be described as anything but a policy failure... so what we really need to do is go with this guy.

He'll take us back to the good old days of Bush policies when there was nothing but puppies, sunshine, and no taxes for millionaires.

Is that why the Tea Party refuses to consider any spending cuts to Social Security and Medicare, because those programs are full of bootstrappiness and government getting out of the business of retirement security and health insurance?

Forgot something, moron. You can't have the government 'leave you alone'. How would you get to work in a highwayless landscape, tard? How would you know what food won't kill you? How would you breathe or drink water if the government wasn't there to stop corporations from sodomizing our natural resources?

On second thought, without the government, Darwinism would completely rule and you'd be gone by now.

bwilson27: The only thing Obama has done wrong, imho, is not tear the gop a new asshole like I was hoping he would.
Other than that, meh.

He's done it (see the Baltimore GOP debacle) and trolled the GOP/Right-Wingers in ways even the best trolls would only dream of (I'm looking at you Donald Trump).

As I've said, the problem's NOT Obama. The problems are: 1) House Democrats are in the minority; 2) most Senate Democrats have bent over for the nearest pile of big money they can find and 3) most of Washington is full of irresponsible adults who see the problems plaguing the country as "not their concern" unless it involves a) money and/or b) being ousted from their current position.

The only way you're going to see true change is when lots and lots of people start giving a crap about who their reps are and what they do for their community.

Yeah, subby, we all voted for Obama because he'd give us everything we wanted.

Uhhh, no. We voted for Obama because 1) he wasn't crazy/senile like McCain, 2) he wasn't going to continue disastrous Bush policies, 3) and he did promise to do things we hoped he'd accomplish.

Now, please show me a President who did EVERYTHING he promised on the campaign trail, and I might be a little disappointed in Obama in comparison. However, considering he ended the war in Iraq, put the country back on the path to recovery from the Bush Recession, killed bin Laden, got a national healthcare bill passed through one of the most opposing Congresses ever, and is basically a pretty cool guy, I think people will still vote for him in November.

Especially when his opponent is yet another Bush-policy clone, mixed in with pure capitalistic greed and amorality.

WAIT! WAIT! WAIT! Obama is a failure? shiat if this is what a failure looks like then please let us elect him again.

Obama killed terrorists, he stopped wars, he saved the economy, he managed to get a health care law passed, he stopped the Republicans from defaulting on the debt, and those are just the things I can think of off the top of my head.

If that is what failure looks like I sure as hell don't want a successful president.

2012-07-03 03:40:31 PM
tony41454: Kids, are you better off now than four years ago? No? Then vote the alternative. Obama's had four years to make good and he can't. He's got to go.

Yep. Got a promotion, sold my house for less than I bought it for in 2005 but more than it was worth in 2008, have erased all of my debt besides my new mortgage, all of my friends are now employed again and most of them are in careers rather than jobs to get by after a layoff.

Given that I 1.)don't particularly think that the main thing missing in the US is an additional Carrier Air Group 2.) feel the worst thing about Obama is his record on civil liberties, 3.) Don't think that John Bolton's theory of foreign policy (bomb Iran) is particulary effective and 4.) Would prefer to have supreme Court Justices who rule like Sotomayor over Alito, why would I have any reason whatsoever to vote for Mitt Romney?

I'm serious, by the way. Not to you, because you're a talking point troll account. But to the world at large. Given my stance (which I don't think is unreasonable or uber-liberal), why should I vote for Mitt Romney over Obama?

what_now: Dusk-You-n-Me: There's your choice young voters. Vote accordingly.

They won't.

The Feds cancelled the Subsidized loan program for graduate students as of Monday.

All week, I have had graduate students in my office, like confused little puppies. Apparently, the emails I've sent them all year, the news, the official letters etc, didn't get through, but not getting the refund did.

My standard reply is to contact their Congressperson. None of them have a CLUE who that is.

You know why student loans interest rates are doubling and education financing is always on the table?

because these chuckleheads don't vote.

This is news to me; I got my doctorate 3 years ago and I never wanted to teach so I'm out of the loop on this. This is the first I've heard of this. Was this the Stafford Loans? If I remember correctly there were worth about $2,500 a year.

Uhmmm..no...most of us are still very much on Obama's side. Dissappointments are one thing, to take a 180 and go with all the policies and assclowns that really drove us downward and go with policies that are against student and non-rich people's best interest is a whole other idea.

2008 was my first presidential election I was able to vote...I voted Obama...and I will be voting for Obama again this time around.

Not even a difficult choice.

Romney is just awful.

FishyFred: My friends with loans and unstable job situations had to practically beg Sallie Mae for forbearance when they became unemployed.

Yep, I can confirm this. It was even more difficult when I went on bedrest & maternity leave for my son. Sallie Mae honestly did not believe that I was in late pregnancy nor did they believe that I delivered or my son went to the NICU, even though I sent them documentation SIGNED BY THE DOCTORS and FAXED FROM THE HOSPITAL.

If I didn't owe SM half my student loans and didn't want to improve my credit, I would tell them to fark off. SO glad I am no longer in the financial aid business anymore.

No it hasn't. The huge tax burden on the states and the middle class has not been addressed. The lack of adequate health care under this law has not been addressed.
