Every time I log into Google+ all I see is everyone in my circles spamming their podcast and linking to some Hipster tech news I don't give a shiat about.

I will never forgive them for removing the "+" sign from their search engine for this crap.

Google plus will succeed because Facebook is screwing up, little by little. People are becoming paranoid and want a service with more control and integration, less data leakage and scandal.

Google plus will fail because of google.
Some gremlin in their works will keep asking if it's profitable yet, and eventually the string of "no" answers will give them enough clout to terminate plus on the eve of victory.

The "next big thing" after facebook isn't around yet and won't be until one day it is the "big thing". Facebook will fail because kids will find something new. And by kids I mean kids currently
We still have 5-10 years of facebook being the big thing slowly dying

I farking hate having to use quotes for my must include searches, when they used to for matching exact phrases.

On the other hand, Google+ hangouts are the shizz. If you regularly get online for any kind of planning or group chats, it's the way to go. You can share desktops, share and edit documents, and setup is a snap. I did vacation planning with out of state friends and for all intents and purposes it was like being in the same room.

It's the ONLY reason I've been active on G+. But it's a damn good one.

Google+ Hangouts are indeed the killer app for their network. It's why there is a huge network of RPG'ers there and why I am working on a virtual tabletop for Hangouts called Tabletop Forge.

As long as there are Google employees there will be a Google+

This. The next big thing will be a start up just like every big thing in the social networking scene

Here's how the company describes the feature in a blog post: "Today's online event tools are really just Web forms that ask, 'Are you going?' Worse yet, they bail when you need them the most: during the actual event, and after everyone leaves. In life we plan, we party and we keep in touch. Software should make all of this more awesome."

This sounds like it came out of Revenge of the Nerds. We party? Wait this sounds like it came out of MSFT. I'm surprised we aren't going to be treated to a George Clinton remix of "Ain't nothin but a google plus thing baby"

I like Google Plus for sharing pictures. You can lock it down per email address as to who can see them. FB only offers group level controls last I checked.

I use it for this a lot too. My phone auto updates my google plus photo albums too. This also forces me to not take dong shots as my wife might see them in the albums i have shared with her.

i rarely use facebook. i have added a bunch of websites to my circles and peruse them as a sort of rss feed in google land. i guess i could use an rss feed if that was still cool.

/not that i take dong shots but it is a warning to not be like brett farve!

I think the next bug thing will be something five or less years from now where you are connected to people 24-7 and it'll be like going with a group somewhere though you'll be alone in Tokyo in the mall and another of your friends is in Berlin at the Brandenburg Gate. We'll approach something like a mutually beneficial hive mind where one persons experiences become 3500's as well. More focus on group benefits than individual achievement other than how does it benefit the group.

/literally a "virtual" society where you are define not by where you're at but the dozens of places you can make yourself present

What kind of cocksucker uses Google+ anyway?

Yeah, I've been following this. Really cool idea that many of my friends had once we started using Hangout, but were too damn lazy to go about implementing; congrats on the idea and the hard work.

I look forward to using it.

Google+ zealots are akin to Ron Paul fans or Apple fanbois. I cannot believe the frothing nuttery some of these folks have.

They're completely serious. One of the most basic parts of searching, and Google dropped it for this.
