I wonder if it talks about how his father had to only hang out with other rabbits, and join the Aryan Bunnyhood so as not to get shanked.

Most are innocent, or at least no more guilty than the squirrels are. its just the barnyard system that keeps them down, and the squirrels have all the nuts, so can afford good lawyers and get off on their crimes.

Considering how many incarcerated men we have in this country, I don't see why this book has not been written earlier. I have two to three dads/moms/brothers/sisters in prison in every public school class I teach. It has a huge effect on the little ones.

We write books for kids to deal with the loss of a loved one or pet. Yet tens of thousands of kids lose their fathers to jail. They need to talk about it, and know they're not the only one, and that it doesn't reflect on them. Sadly, lots of people will treat them differently because of their parent's actions.

I dunno, any little bit helps.

Illustrations look lame, though.

From the Review: "Where are the stained bunk beds? The blazing fluorescent lights? Where's the creepy bunny with the missing ear carving a swastika on the wall with a plastic spoon? Where's the toilet sangria? "

The guy sounds like he's pining for a 2nd honeymoon.

It is sad that this book needs to exist but children are victims of their parents crimes. A little six year old doesn't always understand why dad might need to be in jail; all they know is dad is missing.

Now in some cases this might actually be an improvement in their lives. But in others it's a gaping hole left behind and potentially psychologically damaging.

^^^^^^^^^^^^ This, sadly. I don't see anything to make fun of, in this. It's the equivalent of talking shiat about the original Heather Has Two Mommies.
