chookbillion: The style of this article annoyed me.

What? You didn't find the article written the way that people talk to each other in the written vernacular to be written in a really interesting way, writing-wise? I found the grammar, when I read it on Tuesday on the website to be a delightful puzzle. In homage, I now feel wanting good about to dangle my participles, the neighbor's kid and my flipflops off the roof and my feet.

Ok,fark math nerds

average weight of a two-year old boy is what....25 lbs?
The kiddo fell 3 stories which is probably ~30 feet...right?
What kind of force did he hit her arms with? Cuz it is damn impressive that her arms didn't give out from the impact.

I know F=ma, but I'm struggling with the A part of the equation.
In terms a math 'tard can understand, how do I calculate that?

I've been shot at, stabbed, had to fight for my life and stared down murderers but just the thought of being in that womans position scares the holy fack out of me tenfold compared to most of what I have been through in my life! The thought of not succeeding in catching the little ankle biter and him sustaining life long injuries or worse makes me a little ill to my stomach.

What people say about having your own little rug rats changing your perspective on things is no joke, two years ago I would have read that and thought good job lady compared to my current thought process.

If only there were some sort of constant that you could use for acceleration...

ok, if s=.5at^2, and let's assume 3 stories is 32 feet, as it makes the math easier, t=sqrt(2), or 1.41 seconds
In that amount of time, the child would accelerate to to 13.9 meters per second
let's assume that when you catch the kid, you catch him in cradle him for about 1.5 feet (call it .5 meters)
so s=(Vo+V)/2*T, so 1.5=(13.9+0)/2*t, so t=.072 seconds
a=(Vo-V)/t=193.21 m per second per second
Or 19.71 G

F=ma so F=2196 newtons.

tetsoushima: Counter_Intelligent: She knew the boy didn't have the strength to pull himself back up onto the roof because she spent about two minutes talking to him while he just hung there.

So, nice day we're having!

I just spit a big chunk of hamburger at my screen and chortlefarted.

you sound fat... Well, you do.

pswdfreak: Did the kid go real limp so the lady thought he looked like a dummy?

Because, hey - free dummy!

But, imagine the absolute horror if you ALMOST caught the kid and he hit the ground right at your feet? OMG.

Guilty as charged. That burger was my breakfast. Don't judge me based on my eating habits, judge me based on my chode.
