It would be a really weird disconnect if you made our bread and butter off of being an out of shape man-baby and you got to the point where you could afford not to be a chunky out-of-shape man baby.

I guess it could drive a person to violating a groupie with a champagne bottle.

THIS IS ONLY A RUMOR, I STILL BELIEVE IN YOU FATTY ARBUCKLE!

I got teary-eyed at the season three finale. Kenny Powers can make a grown man weep.

Confabulat: I got teary-eyed at the season three finale. Kenny Powers can make a grown man weep.

The little kid in the orange parka? He dies in every episode (well, almost). And I'm pretty sure crapping himself to death was supposed to be comedy.

/Or were those tears of laughter?

Entourage was a better show than this, and that's really setting the bar low.

And thank Allah that Girls was called up again. Who doesn't want to see the ugly chick's tits again?

/keep your shirt on, funny girl.

Huh. Season 3 ended pretty definitively, and starting pretty much in Season 2 they said they didn't want to do more than 3.

I guess HBO drove a pretty bug dumptruck of cash up McBride's driveway.

I watched the first season and thought:

1) "this show is nothing but a half hour ad for Valtrex."
2) "i wish the ex-gf chick would just stop teasing and show her tits because that is the only thing she's got going for her."
3) "this show is retarded and i will never have this time back."

HBO recently renewed two others laffers: Lena Dunham's "Girls," and "Veep," starring Julia Louis-Dreyfus

Thanks, HBO. Thanks a lot.

I can see Season 4 starting with him walking out of prison, faking your death being a crime and all. He's out of baseball, maybe getting into MMA

I haven't seen "Girls," but "Veep" is one of the best shows on television right now. Glad to hear it got renewed.

I love me some Danny McBride. I tried watching the first season of this show and just couldn't get into it. I think I got up to episode 3 or 4. Whichever one Will Ferrel guest stars as the car dealership owner.

I love this show, but I kind of like it ending as it did -- three funny seasons. What could possibly be left? La Flama Blanca opening a sporting goods store? Does he get his old job back at the high school? Minor league coach?

Ashley pursuing him through the Amazon while Stevie cries into his lumpy girlfriends floppy nipples as April and the baby debut on Montel?

Also, Don Johnson.

It's a shame, but this show lost it's steam after the first season. Not that there weren't bright moments in seasons 2 and 3 but I was glad when it was all over. But I guess I can just not watch, right?

2012-07-03 09:36:26 AM
Never seen the show but I love Danny McBride.

I think he and Eddie Izzard should team up for a film.

I absolutely and totally LOVED the first season of Eastbound and Down, it was farking hilarious. But then I made the mistake of watching season 2, which was godawfully atrocious. I couldn't even make it to the end of the season, it was just painful to watch.

Since season 2 was so much stink on a biscuit I didn't even bother with season 3.

Season 2 was fantastic. La Flama Blanca in sombrero with a mule arriving to the mound was something I shall never forget.

Season 3 wasn't as good but still had some bright spots. Love when he takes his baby to the beach and puts him in a hole and covers him with a towel while he goes surfing.

I had started to watch Luck in the spring, and kinda faded off it. During that time it was renewed for a second season, and also cancelled. -another dead horse will do that I suppose...

So, I started watching the rest of the season again this week. That show got very good, and didn't deserve the glue factory fate.

2012-07-03 11:25:07 AM
The first season of that show was awesome. By the end of the show's run it was terrible.

The show has brief flashes of greatness which make me wonder why the overall quality isn't better.

I have tried to watch "Veep", gave it a good few episodes to see if anything developed and really just cannot get into the show or see what is funny about it. It is just missing something and I don't care to wait for it to find out what it needs.

I have seen a few episodes of Girls and find it "meh". Not good, not bad just 'meh', and was it intended to be so similar to the movie the main character was in, "Tiny Furniture"?

Enjoying Newsroom so far...

Can't wait for Weeds to end, that show started out soooo great when it was just a suburban mom selling pot, then it went off the rails with the mexican gang/politics angle.

Sorry man, but it was terrible. Just awful. It was just a dumb, dumb season. Season 1 was funny because we could relate to all the people around him, being subjected to his level 11 dickery. Season 2... It was just him with the dickery dial turned up to 14, but the people around him just didn't seem that interesting or relatable. It was like they called in hackier writers for the second season. No growth, no tension just the same a-hole jokes over and over.

Season 1 was god tier, but it's been on a downward slope since.

Oh don't give me that race card copout bullshiat.

I don't care that it was Mexicans, the writing was shiatty and they weren't "Mexicans" they were largely totally useless characters with barely any dialogue which might as well have just been wax figures instead of actors.

Hell, the pissed off midget was the closest it came to being funny, and he was a ridiculous character, not like a real person being tortured by Kenny. And an indian guy as a Mexican in a bit of racist casting too.

Still love Eastbound and Down. The last season was solid, IMO. I even enjoyed Season 2, although not as much as the other two. I love using Kenny's cheesy lines on my wife.

Yup. It's a shame, really. The show is well written, and the characters sharply realized, but it drowns under all the hipster and estrogen and ennui. It's still more likeable than Sex and the City, which Girls has been incorrectly compared to.

Kenny Powers: I just want you to know that I've been thinking a lot about what happened at the cook-out.
April Buchanon: Can we talk about it later when everyone is not around?
Kenny Powers: It was just that we were there, and then we were touching each other, and then I saw those tits and I started feeling your ass, and then i just started breathing heavy and i almost got a headache, and then my vision started to go all colorful... Then I just came in my pants.
April Buchanon: Ok...

I saw that scene for the first time while watching season 1 on an Amtrak train, and I damn near pissed myself. I laughed so hard I had a coughing and crying fit at the same time.

The rest of the show has been hit or miss, but I thought that one scene was funny as hell. He looked so happy with himself as he said it, and she was so embarrassed.

The level 14 dickery is what made Season 2 oh so amazing.

Also, La Flama Blanca is the best thing ever besides Ashley.

The manager of the Mexican baseball team was no "ridiculous character." Neither was Stevie's (still) wife. Again, I'd argue if you thought the Mexicans were a cartoon, you don't know many Mexicans.
