Would it be rude to point out that it's 60 degrees and overcast at noon, here in San Francisco? I'm freezing and have a sweatshirt on.

Yes. Today is the first day since Wednesday we won't crack 100. I'll take your sweater and 60 and you can have the 4 straight days over 100.

Take it from me: NEVER LEAVE SAN FRANCISCO. I would kill you and everyone you love for 60s-and-foggy right now. At that's only one axis of many on the city-desirability graph.

Hot as fark here (though, admittedly, "better" than the last two days). Hang in there, little AC unit. At least I'm not amongst the brazillians without power around here. Knock wood. Anybody got a line set for number of people killed by heat in DC/Baltimore before all the power's back? I'll take the over.

And the summer's just getting started.

Just fixed my AC last Tuesday after the capacitor went out after trying to cool the top floor of the house in 105 degree weather while the oven was on to clean itself. Never had a chance. Took about 15 minutes to figure out what was wrong with it, took another 3 hours to find a place that would actually sell me a 25 dollar part. Every place I called told me that they would install it for me but they wouldn't sell it to me, jerks. Just glad that the house has two ACs, one for each floor and we only had to camp sleep downstairs the first night. Yes, our house is weird and we have the kitchen on the second floor. People in the Las Vegas Area do not know how to layout a house.

I've been without power in DC for 3 days, but I still didn't threaten my repairman with death.

I gave him the option to chew off his foot to escape. He's free to choose.

He should have checked Angie's List, first.

In DC. My power came back on this morning as I was walking out of the door for work. On Saturday, I drove past two BG&E vans pulled to the side of the road near a downed power line. There were at least two people in each van...sitting there. Not one of the four people was doing anything. Before I got myself all nice and frothy with rage, it occurred to me that even those guys need a break every now and then. It was about 100 degrees outside.

Aww, it's hot, and just so uncomfortable! Threatening your repairman with a gun? Send him to a work camp in Florida so he can work in the heat on the side of the road until his sentence is up (a few years at least), then ship his dumb ass back to the sweltering shiathole he came from. Whatta shiatfark whiner.

Oh, but this wouldn't have happened if the repairman was also armed... (no, then we would have had a completely different situation.)

Not Vietnamese.

Hank Hill: So are you Chinese or Japanese?
Minh Souphanousinphone: No, we are Laotian.
Bill Dauterive: The ocean? What ocean?
Kahn Souphanousinphone: From Laos, stupid! It's a landlocked country in South East Asia between Vietnam and Thailand, population approximately 4.7 million!

South Louisiana here.... We didn't have a winter. Mercury has been above 70 since March.
Only 97 today. 90% humidity. It's like being slowly potroasted.

I feel sorry for the group of black horses (flock? flick? whatever) down the road from me - one lonely tree for shade. One more reason I'm glad I'm not livestock.

My house is laid out that way. In fact a lot of houses around me are laid out that way. Not only our kitchen, but both bathrooms are on the second floor with all the utility stuff like laundry room, water heater and furnace is on the first floor. Although we do something a little different that keeps the first floor cool without AC, we bury it underground and call it a basement.

/just in the mood to mess around
//I too just fixed my AC today
