The traders emailing each other for favours are the ones that need to be let go of--not that this isn't welcome. But it seems a typical attempt at ensuring there are no real changes to the status quo:

"look, the chairman resigned - the chairman! - clearly this issue has now been entirely dealt with because the buck stops with him, yeah, and all those employees that caused this, and that still work here earning more in a month than you do in a year, well don't worry about them because the chairman resigned."

Give me strength.

Yeah, the guy who will claim that he had no knowledge of anything that was going on, or even how normal business operates, is the one who quit.

Meh. If some traders resigned people would whine that "oh, they got rid of some sacrificial lambs...the big guys got off scot free!
