It only has to be legal to get an abortion. It doesn't have to be easy. Or even only slightly difficult. As long as it is technically possible, they're okay. That's pretty terrible, but that's about the size of it.

There's always an exception for compelling state interests, and the makeup of the courts has shifted drastically to the right since Roe was decided.

That's the reason for the injunction. The new law is ostensibly for health reasons, but the people behind the law have admitted on multiple occasions that banning abortion is the real purpose. The lawyer just showed all these quotes to the judge, and the law is on hold.

The pro-lifers probably assumed that as long as the law was disguised as a public health issue on paper, then it would be legal, even if they blabbed all day about how it was a huge fake-out.

To be fair, that's not at all hypocritical. You would expect lots of young out-of-wedlock mothers in a state with less access to abortion. I would claim that this is a bad thing for everyone involved, but Mississippi's strategy for moving out of 50th place among states is giving lots of high schoolers babies.
