"Everyone remain calm. One of the light fixtures is on fire. Repeat, it is only the plastic covering to the light fixture that is on fire."

Why would you announce this?

2012-07-02 09:41:34 AM
"They are going to come and put out the fire, on the plastic of the one light fixture. The noise that you are hearing is the electric. If someone could please extinguish the overhead lights, the overhead lights, one of the light fixtures has caught fire. It is only the plastic covering to the light fixture that is on fire. There have been some sparks, that's because power is still going to this light fixture. None of the other light fixtures are on fire, nothing else has happened. We are just waiting for somebody to handle this situation. Somebody has brought a ladder. I believe people are being asked to exit the building. Again, I will repeat for everyone that is involved in this: One of the plastic covering to the light fixture has caught fire. It's burning very calmly, and, uh, pretty much burning the same speed that it was, it doesn't smell very good, I'll tell you that."

Good job!

Even the building they were in hates Bronies.

Over six minutes before someone turns off the power.

A little lacking in emergency training?

Expected a "with fire" shoop by now, or an Animal House "remain calm" shoop, or that guy from Iraq.

// The announcements make me all stabby.

Well, I always wanted to watch a fluorescent light fixture slowly burn out over the course of 8 minutes. Thanks...I guess

There's a BronyCon?

2012-07-02 10:20:42 AM
They really went the extra nine yards by getting an actual My Little Pony to do the emergency announcements.

If my memory serves me right believe that was Fiesta Flairsuppression although it had hints of Taffyapple Stompydouse.

It's no Delta II launch explosion, that's for sure.

I had to watch that part twice to make sure I heard it right.

Well, to be fair, it might not have been a good idea to have a bunch of pony people suddenly in the dark.

This is great prep for the fires of hell these bronies will burn in in the future...

Nah, I don't have a problem with bronies

I was assuming a spark had lit off the "brony" "funk" from a couple unwashed hours.

They missed a golden opportunity to have some of the voice actors in attendance do the announcements. At least it would have made for a more entertaining 8 minutes of burning light fixture.

Side note: Whoever at Fark decided that having auto-play advertising videos in the ad rotation on fark.com was a good idea needs to be falcon punched in the baby-maker.

The hygene habits of con-goers could provide enough material for a masters-level dissertation on public health. A lot of the people who attend are, for lack of a better word, disgusting.

Last year, the Mid South Anime Convention supposedly handed out swag bags with toothpaste and deodorant in them.

Not that it matters in this situation, but in a small venue that could be a factor.

I didn't know what the fark it was either, so I googled it.......

I mean, this can't be real, right?

What I love about bronies, is how willing they are to announce their insanity to the world, so as we can point and laugh.

They're like one rung above furries, at the bottom of a very very tall ladder.

The Swagbags at ICC used to always have bodywash, shampoo, and conditioner in them. Good stuff too. My ex worked security in 2000, and brought home at least a years worth of top shelf showerswag. it was nice.

Bronies. Well, the convention is important for socializing. Their moms encouraged them to go so they could get out of the basement once in a while.

"Maybe you'll meet a nice little pony, settle down and have foals of your own."

Wow, how completely original. No one has ever thought to post in a pony thread even the merest hint that bronies are socially underdeveloped. Truly you are a pioneer in the brony insult field and I hope that your government grant for further research into Making Fun of People That are Different From Me So I Hate Myself a Little Less is approved. It's obviously a field that is lacking in extensive study and you are plainly the person that should spearhead the effort.

Man, that was boring. Why couldn't it be a bunch of fat, sweaty, smelly shirtless guys at a sporting event screaming, slamming bellies together, and swilling beer? At least everyone complaining about how calmly the situation in THIS video was handled and the fact that it was a convention for something they personally don't like would be all "Fark yeah, bro fist!" and such about a sports-related fire.

I see you're really upset, don't worry though, it's not really BronieGait. I do commend your standing up for the bronies. It's not easy to be a BronieBoy, but just by taking a public stand, well anonymous but public, you're already taking a lot of burrs in the tail for them.
