(Business Insider)   So, it turns out that Mitt Romney's largest financial supporter, Sheldon Adelson, is personally involved with prostitution, bribery, and international criminals. I'm sure he'll make an excellent Commerce Secretary   (businessinsider.com) divider line 101

So he's hanging out with Bill and Barry.

I keep forgetting it's ok when they do it.

/It's not ok when any of them do it.

This is the first thing about Mitt that seems normal.

Want to start over? It's Monday morning, you're probably just getting into work, you need to put something together with more substance.

Long as he ain't an America-hating Libtard, that's all that matters.

Unless Romney has said he'll appoint the guy to a position, I couldn't care less about where he makes his money.

Well, in fairness he did also try to spend money to make sure Mittens didn't get the nom.

And all because he's decided that because Obama isn't sufficiently gung ho on Israel/One State Solution.

What's next, some Indian dude deciding to throw big money into the ring cos people make fun of Bollywood movies?

Sad.

The guy is also quite fond of the Chinese and their money, and that doesn't mesh well with Mitt's China bashing.

Follow the money and all that.

Philip Francis Queeg: Bill and Barry who?

Bloody William: Want to start over?

I mean that we've heard stories of every president dealing with shady characters when it comes to funding. Bill Clinton, Barack Obama, George Bush.

They have all been connected to shady finance. When it was Bill and Barry, the response seemed to be "ZOMG: Politicians have to deal with shady people to save the world! Bid Deal."

I'm fine with prosecuting* everyone involved in such associations. I'm not ok with giving some people a pass with the excuse that "that is just how politics is done".

*2 continue with (a course of action) with a view to its completion.

He's living his conservative dream. Those good old halcyon days when one could be a well respected, law abiding man of means in their own locale, then go abroad and live it up in third world countries abusing brown labor and farking their children. You know, like Rush and his pool boys. At least Adelson isn't directly screwing young girl's from Macau, he only profits from others screwing them.

Meh. If prostitution is legal in Macau, it's not a problem there, long as he has his permits. As far as international criminal connections, I'd be pretty surprised a man in his work w/ his billions didn't have to deal w/ unsavory types in countries w/ a wink-wink attitude toward crime.

His ties shouldn't be the concern: it's the treatment of coporations as persons & money as speech that's the issue.

He hasn't been charged, much less convicted of anything. The article is nothing but he-said-she-said nonsense, so it would be quite a leap to say that he lied and covered it up. Also, it seems that even if he did what he was accused of doing, it was perfectly legal.

So since both sides are equally bad to the 1000th significant digit, mentioning specific instances of badness is wrong in some way?

On the one hand, this doesn't bother me too much. Knowing that Adelson made his fortune in casinos makes it pretty obvious he's involved in all kinds of things. And since these things are more-or-less legal in Macau, it's almost a non-story.

The real story? If Adelson is personally involved in any of these policies, it raises red flags about how seriously Romney takes his faith. LDS quotes on prostitution: Link

It really seems that Romney's values can easily be compromised for a prime-time TV spot or two.
