Officers only have that right? Well I don't give a fark if I don't, I'm going after that window and then take up a collection if I get charges!

This is good. You don't want people thinking they are the law. In cases like this, you can let courts solve the problems, if problems arise.

I was reading through that headline expecting the dog to be fake.

Come on, "woman rescues fake dog/baby/gnome from locked car on hot day" is a summer staple.

The cause of the heat and severe storms is up for debate. There are many theories about them being natural or the result of human activity. You just really have to wonder, are things like thunderstorms, tornadoes, hurricanes, and tsunamis caused by the ACLU's attack on Christianity or by the Democrats and Liberal's gay marriage agenda?

I was coming out of the gym one hot day when I saw a dog locked in this minivan with the windows rolled up. He was panting so hard and looked worse for wear .Most people end up staying at the gym a good 30 minutes, so I figured this was not an in-and-out affair, so I ended up calling the cops. I waited around to see when the jerk came out. Turns out he was a freaking veterinarian. Blew my farking mind.

Under city ordinances, private citizens do not have the right to break a window or destroy someone else's property to rescue an animal.

Yeah, screw that. I have every right to smash a window to save an animal from certain death. And I'll smash a few extra windows in any car nearby just because AMERICA fark YEAH!!!

That sort of attitude is why we have thunderstorms, tornadoes, hurricanes and tsunamis. And heat waves,

While there are variations in what various insurance plans cover, I think we can pretty definitely say "no" on this one.

Well, the insurance of the person doing the smashing might, I guess.

If I run across an animal in a parked car on a hot day, I'm not going to check local ordinances. I also won't be spending 40 minutes trying to find your neglectful ass. You want to biatch about it, we can have that conversation in court. I'm sure it'd be quite entertaining to watch someone try to explain why their window is more important than the animal's life.

Nice to see the lady who left the dog actually taking responsibility for her actions. In the litigious US you'd normally expect her to sue for the damage. After all legaly she has the right.

Just last week, there was a case here (and we have hot summers, believe me) of passers-by seeing a year-old baby locked in a completely closed car. They broke the window and got the baby out, then called an ambulance. Fortunately, they were in time and the kid wasn't badly hurt. Would you suggest leaving a baby in a locked car on a hot day because the owner might sue?

Hmm, you appear to have read more into my post than written. I didn't say a window shouldn't be broken. Go ahead and break the windows, just don't post on Fark saying you will, seeking approval from your peers for being hypothetical bad-ass.

To answer your question, I do value a baby's life above that of a dog yes.

Then you need psychiatric help. Hating a specifc baby that's ruining your day by crying on a flight/ in a restaurant/ in a cinema etc is one thing. A general inherent hatrid of babies means there is something wrong with you. Similarly, taking pleasure in watching an animal bake to death points to issues.

Still don't post on the internet about what a bad-ass you are because you'd break a farking window to help something that relies on humas for care. Anyone who isn't a serial killer in the making should be expected to deal with this sort of situation. No kudos for you,
