It's a trap!

That's one kind of religious intolerance I can get behind. I can also "get behind" prison rape but regular rape is UNCOOL.

Funny. I was just thinking that's what it'd take for me to root for Rupert Murdoch.

I think it's pretty funny when Murdoch says something that even his own 24hr news station doesn't agree with, like his comments about who broke the economy and how they can't expect it repaired overnight...

Of course, he's not a news man unless "news" is some kind of Orwellian doublespeak for the entertainment that his properties push. This is just more "news" if that definition applies.

/yes yes, I know..
//good, good... Let the butthurt flow through you...

I'm torn!

Murdoch is in it for the money. He would burn the world down if it would make a profit for him.

Rupert Murdoch has the scoop; Mitt Romney has chosen Tom Cruise as his running mate.

Romney/Cruise 2012: You are feeling sleepy, very sleepy.

Rupert Murdoch is a good, kind, media icon. Any attacks on him are simply your self-hatred for how your own life turned out. Koch brothers are cool too.

Soros is evil mastermind who has had his hand in overthrowing governments... First by making their monetary notes worthless... OMG! We're next !!

Well, he's certainly been doing a great deal of harm to American democracy. But it's also made him EXTREMELY wealthy, so I'm sure there is zero burden on his conscience.

Murdoch probably wants Obama to stay in office so he can keep selling inflammatory trolling to wingnuts.

TFA says someone else twitted that, but that his feathers were ruffled by the implied association. But anyway, his comments sure seem pragmatic and genial relative to the hyper-partison empire he's built.

Sadly, I'm pretty sure there's some truth to that. Obamaphobia must have made Murdoch at least a jillion dollars richer by now.

It must really chafe that he's created a global media empire to further his own interests with governments around the world, all leading up to having to support Obama-lite against the genuine article.

Some people just wanna see the whole world burn.

Rupert Murdoch is not one of those people--but if he can derive profit from it, he's perfectly willing to help.

I hope they both lose!

Nah. A few billion dollars ago, sure. Now he's just a crazy old man with so much money and power that no one can shush him when he goes off on a rant.

If he were just your Grandpa Rupert, he'd already be telling the day nurse at Shady Acres his views on Scientologists, postal rate increases, and those hippity-hop musicians.

Well yeah, they float and they're kind of greasy, so you drop one cigarette ash, and *poof* up in flames.

They burn off at a rate of 9 to 10 thousand per hour depending on atmospheric conditions.

The real tragedy is that this probably won't result in a battle to the death between the two groups of goons that ultimately destroys both.

i'd say if you really look at the founding of both, Mormons are the Scientologists of the 19th century.

In other news, the cult of Scientology continues to hemmorhage high-ranking members as David Miscarriage's father and L. Ron Hubbard's granddaughter both recently left the group. They're spending money with extraordinary speed building new centers that stand empty and unused, despite having fewer donors than in the past, thus requiring them to take more money from the idiots who remain. With a little luck this is the beginning of the end.

Here's hoping the mighty power of Scientology and the mighty power of Murdoch kill each other. One of those is home-grown stupid but how did we end up adopting Australia's idiot? Don't you see we're overflowing here?

He meant Romney giving up including Hispanics in the conservative conversation, except incidentally.

I actually like the fact someone in a position of power like Rupe is talking shiat about Scientology. Say whatever you want to about him, he's right on this.

Isn't Murdoch part of that other crackpot cult that involves a Jewish magician and symbolic vampirism? Talk about throwing stones in glass houses.

This. Although I've read he leans left on the political spectrum, it's off-putting to me that he'd rather make money through Ailes and Fox's blatant attempts to create rather than simply report the news. Then again, as a soccer fan in the US, I am grateful for Fox Soccer Channel.

I dunno, MSNBC is really REALLY close, just on the opposite end of the spectrum. I used to watch it a bunch for a couple of months, but then I began to see how similar it was to Fox News, just with a different polarity. I maybe watch a little now and then to see what outrage they're covering this week, but mostly I avoid it now as much as I avoid Fox News. CNN is hardly any better, but they seem less politically polarized and more monetarily polarized as they will run any story as long as it gets them ratings and money. HLN may as well be called a purely entertainment channel given the sheer amount of derp on it most days.

So... yeah, they're all pretty much ridiculous. Their owners, however, are not as charismatic or public. ABC is Disney. CBS is Viacom. NBC is GE. CNN is TimeWarner. Most people aren't going to screw with their owners because they aren't in the public all the time. Murdoch likes to keep a high public profile. Also, he's not American. He's the outsider among the media giants at play here. Lots of factors that go into it.

I just don't see that. There are editorial pieces, which are useless and not worth watching on any network but Fox News lets its partisanship leak into what should be their objective news reporting. Even the graphics and the entire showmanship is something straight out of a Paul Verhoevan film. They don't even try to pretend differently at this point so I don't see how anyone can not see it.
