I googled industrialized nations without universal health care and according to the search, the US is one of three nations. According to this map, I see the US and China, but what is the other industrialized nation?

While access to clean water may be a bit spotty, this is more than made up for by the short life expectancy and the absence of Barack Obamas. Pack your swimsuit!

Can't these fools just wait till we don't have a black President? Or are we going to have to go through this when we (inevitably) have a Hispanic president, a female president, a Jewish president...

I know Fark is having a pants creamingly good time shouting down anyone who has a different opinion about the ACA, and I hate to be Debbie Downer but is this even close to a worthwhile discussion?

I mean honestly..."Don't like ACA? Herp derp move to Asscrackistan!" Is that what passes as political discourse around here now? I think the difference between Freepers and Tea Partiers and the average Fark politics tab liberal is not as great as you all seem to like to think.

Sorry, it is not any more amusing to see liberals act like children then it is to see it from conservatives. I recall quite clearly threads full of empty threats to move to Canada if Bush was re-elected...stupid then, stupid now.

/I predict much shouting down, welcometofark.jpgs, both sides are bad, and the rest of the politics tab's greatest hits to follow

Dude, America spends the most on healthcare and gets the least care. If you think improving this is a bad idea, you're pants on head retarded.

It was the conservatives that wanted the mandate, not us. Liberals wanted single payer. Liberals are happy right now because even though we didn't get what we wanted, the country is still going to be a better place which is why conservatives are derping right now. They want the country to fail in order to make Obama a one term president.

So ya, if you want America to fail.. GTFO.

On one hand it's a pretty clear echoing of the "If you don't think Amurica is perfect then leave!" line we heard a lot in 2004 and 2006.

Unlike "if you don't think Amurica is perfect then leave!", it's also pointing out how ridiculous it is to act as if universal healthcare is some sort of aberration in the world when in fact it's America that's being burned by not having it, and that virtually every other country with a standard of living much above hand-to-mouth has it. That this continues to be lost on Republicans more than 3 years after the "debate" started is just proof that they're living in a parallel bizzaro-world

I thought the new line was they'd "go slow" in any and all implementation. Although if they had to run the exchanges at the state level it's another opportunity to sneak another political appointment in. And given the current state of the OCI here there are five people in that entire office who could handle the health side of the industry.

Not true. Public health care in various forms is available throughout Mexico. Even rural areas have public health centers. I've lived here with my family since 1981. We have never had a problem finding free or inexpensive medical care even when we lived in remote beach towns before they were developed.

That could be the line by now. I'm going off what I heard on Friday, and things were changing so fast I couldn't keep up. Things got so ridiculous I decided to stop paying attention for a while. I listened to one guy, in the same rant, say that this was going to drive insurance companies out of business by requiring them to do various things that the free market had decided they didn't need to do, then turn around and say that this was Obama creating a tax that further enriched the fat-cats in the insurance industry at our expense. That was when I decided that I needed to just tune out until people had some time to take a deep breath and calm down a bit.
