Why don't they just move to Amercia? A freedom-loving nation made up of the affluent whites who Jesus ordained with special powers.

And this is going to influence independent voters... how?

This is practically Mormon doctrine.

Well, since this is directly from the Nixon campaign, steal slogans from race baiters about how he'll be tough on crime and how the educated elite are hurting America...

Oh.

/fun fact: both those talking points were directly stolen by Nixon from George Wallace to get his voters. They are the core of the GOP today.
//You're basically voting for George Wallace if that's what gets you to vote GOP

Yeah, you don't reach anybody you don't already have in your pocket by doing that unless the major news people cover their stories, and if they get shut out too much they won't do him any favors most likely

Politicians prefer favorable outlets? The hell you say.

Wow. If Mittens can't handle a few questions from anyone but Drudge, Breitbart and Fox, how is he capable of dealing with people like Hoagie Chavez, Hu Jintao, and Vlad Pootie-Poot? What a COMPLETE PUSSY!

There's picking favorable outlets and then there's the GOP strategy of hiding from anyone who might ask them difficult questions. And given how rarely that occurs in the media, it reflects even worse on the GOP that they're too afraid to face the nation.

I'd like to believe that, but I also know that the major outlets need a horse race to cover. They'll report on him, and do it in a way that makes him a worthy competitor for Obama. Otherwise, ratings, clicks and circulation fall. I find it very disheartening, actually.

He's not hiding from them. He's just not answering them after he found out that some people write that shiat down.

Though to be fair I haven't heard many non-bullshiat answers to challenging questions from anyone, anywhere, in politics in ages.

I'm glad you added that last part. I'm 34. I've been watching those Sunday shows since I was about 10. I remember when David Brinkley wouldn't let them get away with that sh*t. Can't watch that bullsh*t anymore. Buncha weak-ass journalists who want to be friends with their guests rather than hold their feet to the fire.

What the hell are they afraid of? A journalist asking "America: Great country or greatest country?" Oooooohhhhh SCARY!

They are petulant children who seek to only reinforce their preconceived notions of the world. Fact-based discussions are heresy!

David Brinkley sets Bob Dole up and Sam Donaldson knocks him down...

Respectful, not too much of a push, but at least they ask real questions and try to get a real answer. Even George Will wasn't as much of a dick back then.

simplicimus: Wait, Fox is too hard on Romney?

Damn that liberal shill Chris Wallace and his hard-hitting interviews.

2012-07-01 03:00:14 PM
At one point during the first two years of Obama's presidency, the White House press secretary was instructed to ignore Fox News questions, mainly because of how critical Fox News was being on the administration. It was "payback" in a subtle way.

How is this any different? Andrea Mitchell does a hatchet job on Romney be "editing" a piece of video that makes him look out of touch. MSNBC is literally a mouthpiece for the DNC.

MSM is as biased as Fox News is. We all know that and we accept it. Is there anyone out there that can report the news in an unbiased way? I don't think so. What we've come to as a nation is to watch the news that most suits our needs and/or wants. If we're Republican, we'll watch Fox News because it makes us feel OK about our party affiliation. If were Democrat, we'll watch MSNBC for the same reason.

If Romney chooses to speak to only Drudge (which is funny because Drudge is about as much news as Fark is - they aggregate the stories, they don't write them) or Breibart.com, so be it. More power to him. His choice.

Then again, do you really believe that to be the case? Why would he lose out on the millions of voters who don't go to Drudge or Breibart? Sounds like either political suicide or a bogus story.

I'm going with bogus, unless Romney really believes in the Mormon prophecy that he is destined to be president.
Guess he'll skip the debates, too.

To be fair, those media sources will probably refrain from replaying his own words back at him. This is sort of critical in his campaign strategy. It's bad enough, that his own campaign speeches are Obama's best fund raisers, but if he has to answer real questions from journalists his campaign isn't paying, then he might have trouble from both sides of the aisle...

Andrea Mitchell's worse crime was in thinking that she needed to edit a video to make Romney look out of touch. Good reporters can do that just by asking him a question.

MSNBC blatantly edited one of his speeches to make him look ridiculous.

Don't blame him for avoiding MSM outlets

I agree. We should condemn as "completely untrustworthy" any media outlet that uses deceptive editing to make their political opponents look bad. I promise to stop watching, reading, or listening to any media outlet that is caught using deceptive editing in that way.

Will you join me in that promise?

So does that mean Romney will tell us how he will bring "Obama" to justice for being "ineligible" to serve as President?

Fox News is part of the MSM.

I love this false equivalency though. I have yet to see another station outside of MSNBC paint Republicans the same way that Fox News paints Democrats/liberals on an everyday basis.

The Republcans have allowed the discredited media to continue their illegitimate existence for too long by issuing them press credentials and allowing them to host debates and going on their illegitimate news programs, etc. It's time to destroy the commie-pervert media once and for all.

Because a "critical" question from the MSM to Romney would be something like, "Mr. Romney, you have yet to clarify whether you will revoke the order to stop deporting illegal immigrants who came here as children. Can you please give us a clear answer to that question?"

While a critical question from Fox to Obama would be more along the lines of, "Mr. Fartbongobummer, will the Fartbongobummercare give the old and infirm the choice to die by poison or bullet, or will it be gas chambers all around?"
