(Some 1001freefonts.com)   White House salary report lists 114 assistants to the President. What's worse, the White House Chief Calligrapher making $96,725, or the fact he has an assistant making $85,953?   (michellesmirror.com) divider line 187

Bush only had one assistant who made $8 an hour

Unless these positions were created by the Obama Administration, the fail blog can STFU.

I am unable to find the salary for the White House Head Crack Whore or the White House Assistant Crack Whore but considering the source I am thinking they must have uncovered this somewhere.

Well, somebody who never worked a day in his life needs assistance.

2012-07-01 02:29:00 PM
In DC? Neither. $96,725 is about $67,000 in Kansas City. Respectable, but certainly not rolling in the cash.

So where was the Teabaggers' moral outrage over Bush the Younger's assistants??

It should be noted that some White House Residence Staff members (which include housekeepers and groundskeepers as well as chefs and calligraphers) have worked there for decades, not just under the current administration.

These arguments always make me wonder how bad it is for folks who make 15 or 20 per hour in places like DC or Berkeley or NYC and how they can survive without eating a bullet after a while.

Not saying I'd be rolling in cash, but If I made 96K in DC, my wife and I would vacation in Europe for a couple of weeks every summer and have enough left over to spend Christmas in the Caribbean.

It depends on family size, really. If you were single and living on 96K a year in DC, you'd have a huge amount of disposable income, and could easily keep your basic necessities down to around 20-25K a year. But if you were the primary breadwinner for a family of 4? That 96K a year in DC becomes pretty unworkable if you want to live more than modestly.

And you know if he had done away with those positions, the right would be frothy with rage that he took jobs away from good, honest Americans.

What does the White House need with a calligrapher? Don't they have computers to do that now?

Makes me wonder how much they paid the crew who installed the secret pole slide from the oval office down to the hidden mosque below the White House.

Maybe (s)he should grab those bootstraps and start pulling.

As someone who knows a little bit about how life is in the White House (Thanks, West Wing!) and someone who has a calligrapher as a wife, I'm betting that person earns every penny of that money.

Fun fact: In calligraphy they're called "hands" not "fonts."

Fun Fact #2: Asking a calligrapher to do something in Comic Sans produces the most AWESOME reactions...

Newsmax reported 18 hours ago that White House salaries are up 14% in the past few years over Bush.

And since they are lazy government employees, they deserve that less than the CEO salaries which have gone up significantly more.

Nobodyn0se: I'm betting that person earns every penny of that money.

That's what I was thinking. They probably work more hours per week than I do (40-50). That's gotta be a long, tedious job. I think I'd try to kill myself by downing India Ink.

I am outraged that people who perform specialized tasks around one of the most secure men on the planet while never getting much public recognition are paid for it.

Or would the Teatards prefer that President spend time planning the logistics of Air Force One instead of reviewing current treaties for an upcoming trade summit?
