My husband and I combined barely make $50 before taxes, so far, and I was online for years before I went back to college. Maybe I'm just bucking the statistical trend, but it seems silly.

Only a matter of time before there is free home internet. Going to the library is too difficult. There are free cell phones now, why not throw in the internet too? Figuring how to scam the system would probably take less time and be easier than working my 45+ hours a week at my job. I'm starting to feel like a sucker more and more every day.

I think international swimsuit models are a lot shallower than you give them credit for.

And what am i taking away from this article? At some point you're going to be able to afford to get on line. At some point I'll be able to afford an Ariel Atom. And why is this news again?

In New York, a smoking habit is over $300 a month, and don't get me going on how much it is to drink at a bar.

If you ever put $300 a month into your computer system, you would have one awe inspiring system after a while.

Well, if you're my neighbor with a plumbing business with 12 trucks, 2 vacation homes and a f*cking giant sailboat... Yeah.

I wish we pushed votech skills more. Kids are getting screwed being told that they NEED college when they can make great money with a trade skill.

I dropped out when I realized I was happier working the back of the house in mid to high end restaurants than I'd ever be desk surfing. Up until a couple of months ago, yes on number 2, but the place I was working was shuttered by the owner without warning a couple months ago. My sister was waitstaff there, so it's a good thing we both have plenty of savings. Jobs are hard to come by right now - unless you're willing to settle for Denny's and minimum wage. No thanks. I'll just wait for another chef somewhere nearby to kick off or burn out.

You can get a decent used one or workable new one at about $300. Nothing fancy, but workable and able to look for jobs on.

No. Yes. 14 years ago I was single, broke, no $ except whatever I had in my pocket. I knew 0 about computers and the internet.

I couldn't afford to go to school, so I spent 3 years at The UofA Library info commons, using/learning their computers, and learning whatever software they had on their PC's. All day, all night.

I tried to look like I belonged there, like I had a reason to be there. They thought I was homeless but they never asked me to leave. I discovered Photoshop and some other web site creating programs.

Not everyone who is poor is a hopeless case. Sometimes all it takes is determination and balls.

Sorry, I don't much care for lo-fi.
I have about $60 worth of prepaid iTunes cards that I've received as presents, that only even cross my mind but every once in a while.
