This whole thing seems to getting more and more absurd. I can't imagine any outcome other than Carreon getting fined for abuse, or frivolous lawsuit, etc.

He could just try NOT visiting those websites. I mean, nobody's holding a gun to his head, nor is his browser ignoring his requests and pointing him to those pages anyway.

It's hard to believe that someone could outstupid the guy who had to defend Sandusky, but this guy is doing it.

Always kind of figured that whomever ran FunnyJunk had to be not right in the head, and run out of Russia somewhere to keep from getting sued. Turns out they forgot about the leave the country to not get sued part, but at least I was right on one count.

Just trying to read up on the case is hurting my head.

At this point even a lawyer walking up from a three day bender would have no problem showing this whole thing violates rule 11 of the rules of civil procedure, namely that filings aren't made purely to harass or intimidate.

Your allies are the fools
Who cut and paste all day.
They think they're important,
But their anger is impotent.
They say nasty things,
But they don't get paid.
Their ignorance is deep,
So ya' get 'em on the cheap.

Your humor's scatological,
Your mind is pathological.
Did someone drop you on your head,
When you were in your baby-bed?
Did they take away your rattle,
And teach you how to tattle?

Whatever the reason,
You have committed treason
Against decency and sanity,
You're offensive to humanity.

Bingo. And when they were first asked to take down the Oatmeal content, they complied. That was a tacit acknowledgement that they were in the wrong, and when they didn't take it all down and got asked again, they started this whole defamation thing.

1) post other people's content
2) get asked to remove it
3) sue the person asking for defamation
4) ???
5) ursine syphilis

Well what's funny is the federal lawsuit doesn't even have FunnyJunk as the plaintiff, the plaintiff is Charles Carreon alone.

What's really funny about it is at the start, he could have just -- and very fairly -- claimed that he was passionately advocating for his client which is, as a lawyer, his job. Some clients just aren't all roses. Then he decided to shed the lawyer's only bulletproof mantle, and jumped right into the deep end representing himself.

you're just a car accident or a stumble down the stairway from being mentally unstable yourself.

being mentally unstable doesn't mean you're stupid.

many of the most successful figures in world history, leaders in government, military, science and the arts - were mentally unstable.

Kind of weird; I remember reading an account by a lawyer who knew this Carreon guy saying, "Huh, that doesn't sound like the Charles Carreon I know..." and then going away, having a word with him, and then coming back and saying, "Yeah...I don't know what happened, but he's gone loco..."

Sounds like he decided to try to get some nuisance money for some reason and it blew up in his face, and now he's hanging on for dear life trying to get something - anything - out of it so that he can claim a victory.

Where's FunnyJunk in all this? If I were that site administrator, I'd be digging myself a very, very deep bunker and hoping the Internet never ever finds me again.

Yep. She's also posting someone with the same last name killed his wife and maybe he's related (along with a lot of other crazy), but she's just raising questions, no defamation here, honest.

Exactly. A quick "overzealous" comment and official retraction of the original letter would honestly have gotten him some positive press, albeit not much. This whole thing is just amazing. I have no other description than batshiat insane.

From what I can gather from skimming a few of the links, this is the 2012 version of Ebaum vs. SA, YTMND, and a third site I can't remember?

Those were good times. I wonder if that ebaumsworldsucks page with the flash animation is still there...
