kidgenius: redomega: I'm actually surprised to read they were smart enough to use a revolver. I fully expected something with a clip load.

Actually, a clip load could work too. You just attach one round to the clip and insert. Then it won't fire until the clip has moved up to that bullet.

Now a magazine load on the other hand....

Did I not already say I saw thar?

Dull Cow Eyes: mongbiohazard: I don't know man... we did some dumb shiat too, but that almost seems a little too dumb to be believable to me to happen more than extremely rarely.

I used to believe the same.

But after spending significant time in Florida, I don't know what would be surprising anymore for "too dumb to only rarely happen." All options are on the table.

/this shooting happened near Tampa's burbs

Yeah... I lived in FL too for a few years, in Ocala. I guess you may have a point. They do have a special kind of stupid down there.

theorellior: I'm kinda surprised that there are already Farkers mentioning that they knew someone who died playing Russian Roulette. Is youthful dumbfarkery really that widespread?

me & the idiots i ran with had no expectations of seeing 20, much less 30. when 50 passed me by i finally realized i'm going to live past 30. a crapload of guys from HS never saw graduation and even more never saw their mid 20's. if i had any clue i would not have died young i would have lead a much different life.

I think the autopsy will show that he shot himself in the head.

Did one of them ask for three bullets in the chamber?

Russian Roulette is a lethal game of chance in which a player places a single round in a revolver, spins the cylinder, places the muzzle against his or her head and pulls the trigger. The game originated in Russia.

See! Thanks to dumb-jack-asses who dumb shiat we learn something new!

At least do this with a cap gun or something... blanks... I don't know. Blanks point blank would probably still hurt pretty bad, loud bang... All the fun, none of the death.

doglover: How else can you play it, Subby?

I was wondering that too.

Except he wasn't playing Russian Roulette, he though that a blank round would just make a nice bang and that was it.

May want to go ask Brandon Lee about that blank idea of yours

I like to think the last thing that went through his head, before that bullet anyways was to wonder how the hell Andy Dufresne got the best of him.

You're reading this in Morgan Freemans voice.

You might want to go read up on that. It wasn't the blank that killed him. It was the fragment of real bullet in the barrel that did it.

Had a childhood friend die this way. He wasn't really a close friend, just a kid that lived a street over, who tended to hang with the wrong crowd, and eventually got in to drugs and alcohol. He was 17 as well. What a stupid game.

Young people don't do stupid stuff like this because they think they are invincible. They do stupid stuff like this because they don't think they'll live much longer. As the song goes, "Only the good die young." Look at the examples. James Dean. Brandon Lee. Heath Ledger. Jimi Hendrix. Janice Joplin. Even the crap they make us read in school gives you a sense of inevitability. What's the difference between a Shakespearean comedy and a tragedy? Not everyone dies in a comedy. Before high school I remember my reader in 5th grade being full of nothing but kids watching their parents or siblings die slowly, except for one vivid story describing a man trekking across the frozen wastes of Canada and slowly starving to death after a plane crash.

/all my friends thought they'd be dead by age 30
//I thought anaphylactic shock would get me if nothing else did
///never actively did anything like this though, just didn't take good care of my body
////never knew a kid who thought they were "invincible," just kids who didn't care if they died

Ask Jon-Erik Hexum about whether a blank can kill you.

That show was awesome. Bryan Cranston was fantastic in it.

This.

Most likely their traits are several of the following:

1) high school sucks
2) no girlfriend
3) only sucky job prospects, even college degrees lead to a sucky job (if a job at all)
4) possible family problems

Even some really smart engineers (acquaintances) died from doing risky things in their 20s because they were jaded enough to put themselves in dangerous circumstances.

I like how they are going to do an autopsy. I wonder what the cause of death might have been.

NewportBarGuy: RexTalionis: No, Russian Roulette is where you play with a semiautomatic pistol.

Also acceptable:

I do forensic autopsies all day, and it is surprising the number of jackasses that do this. There are no limits to stupid. None.

kingoomieiii: Wasn't there a group of dumb assholes who tried to play Russian Roulette with a magazine-loaded handgun? "Oh, guys, it's totally safe, there's a bullet missing!"

That's Polish Roulette.

GAT_00: make me some tea: It's not Russian Roulette unless it's loaded.

That's what I was thinking. Isn't Russian Roulette where you have a revolver with 5 loaded chambers and one empty?

That's German Roulette.

RexTalionis: No, Russian Roulette is where you play with a semiautomatic pistol.

That's Polish Roulette.

Me thinks you don't know the difference between the words smart and ignorant.

One generally prevents you from making less money, the other will generally prevent you from making horrendously life changing mistakes.

Wow. Must suck hardcore to be you. I never knew anyone who thought like this. Not even close. You would have to have no life at all and no prospect of a life to think like that.... And even then you would still have to also be an idiot to think you were to stupid to ever be able to make your life better.

Rubber bands would sting a lot, and they'd leave a mark. The roulette part could be said victim stretching the rubber band as far as it could and seeing which direction it breaks. The really dangerous part could be the loss of sight in one eye. "Snap"

/Polish Roulette?
