A little known fact is that Subby's girls have already decided on "No sex for a year" no matter what Parise does.

As all of you as my witness, I hope Subby gets to be sexless.

Alright, let's get this shiat going! So far today read that Ryan Smyth has resigned with EDM for 2 years & and Jordan Staal put the 10-year ink down in Carolina.

Ah, the Columbus Blue Jackets. Just when you would think we couldn't possibly get any worse, there goes Nash...

Subby, you can't give up fapping for a whole year. Anyway, Parise ends up in Pittsburgh, I think.

And a minor note just pulled from Twitter (which is what I'll be looking at most of today): Scott Clemmensen says he and Florida Panthers have come to terms on a new deal

Well Detroit has been paying Hudler almost 3 mil a year to play soft so if we don't get Parise or Suter Holland will be under pressure to do something. 6.7mil for another ghost in the playoffs is not what we need though. I like the signing of Gustavsson.

Canceled plane flight of the Redwings leads me to believe that Parise has either agreed to play with Detroit or we are out of the running. If we don't hear something soon I would guess Detroit is out of the running.

Well, they're kind of tied up with the ownership situation not closed yet. That's why Doan hasn't been resigned yet (but let's be honest, I have a better chance of winning the lottery than the Coyotes have of losing their franchise player).

I was just hoping that maybe the team could reach agreements with players and not sign them until things are closed (most likely by the end of the month).

Also, Adam Burish is now a Shark

He's really underestimated, and has been since his time in Toronto, i think. Great hands, good forechecker, strong on the puck, and can be big when he needs to be. I think it was a steal to get him for 1.8m.

So, if it comes out today that Parise goes away from NJ, will we be seeing you tomorrow for Raw, or are we on Robsul suicide watch?

Pierre LeBrun:

I don't think the Kings are front-runners for Parise.... Shane Doan is of interest to the Kings, however

Dallas Stars also have interest Doan. But Doan told us this morning he wouldn't decide his future until July 9

Prediction: if Coyotes ownership deal gets done this week (unlikely), Doan stays. If not, it's up in the air because Doan might have an offer from the Coyotes that no one knows about.

That's not funny.

I could see him having a bounce back year, but I don't see two good years out of him.

$3M per?! Damn.

I just don't like him as a player. He is the king of the weak wrist shot from the point, and takes stupid penalties.

When I first saw it, i thought "Cool, he likely took less to try and find his game again with the Wings"

Then I saw the $3m part. Do the Wings know something that everyone else doesn't?

Doan does not want to resign and end up playing in Quebec. The French do not like him because he called them frogs.

I'll agree if we modify so that the terms are whether or not PHX moves to Quebec, not just "in general".

Also, no. Scott Gomez in his prime is not greater than Henry.

Right wing Shane Doan, who has played all 17 of his NHL seasons with the Phoenix Coyotes franchise, reportedly will wait until July 9 to decide if he will become a free agent.

Doan, who has 310 goals in 1,198 games, will wait until then to see if Greg Jamison's bid to buy the Coyotes is successful, according Canada's The Sports Network.

Sad to see Salo go. Like the pick-up of Garrison (insert Mr. Hat joke here); apparently he was offered more by other organizations, but wanted to play for the hometown team enough to take a cut. A small bright spot in a dodgy year for Mike Gillis, who is going to have to suck up the poor return the inevitable Luongo trade will merit. I already have.

Montreal did great today.

Hmmmm.... Parise and Suter announcing their intention to wear the winged wheel tomorrow, that's why they are waiting, right?

2012-07-01 10:22:48 PM
The Wild have tons of money to spend, solid goaltending, and lots of up and coming talent in Coyle, Granlund, Brodin, Dumba, etc.

Parise's from MN, is in the process of building a house here, and the owner Leipold has said if he signs with anyone else but the Wild it'd be for less money than his offer.

Suter's wife is from MN, so there's an in there.

I can see if Parise announces tomorrow that he's going to the Wild that Suter would see enough talent there to follow suit. Signing those 2 would INSTANTLY make them a contender.

/I can dream...

Funny, that's exactly how I picture you being when the sale closes and the Coyotes stay.

Newsflash: I'm not listening to impartial media down here. Unlike Canadian media, there's been no one rooting one way or the other down here. So I'm getting something called "reality." Maybe you should try it sometime.

By the way, the people trying to get the Coyotes arena deal to a public vote are reportedly lying to get signatures on their petitions. That could be grounds to get the petitions denied. Link

I agree that Franzen is the one to shop. He's a 25-30 goal/year scorer so plenty of teams would want him. His contract is long (to 2019?) but it is front loaded. It may not be cap friendly, it *is* pocketbook friendly. He'd be attractive to any team struggling to make the salary floor. Wings should trade him to a crappy team for some picks. Franzen has to be worth a first and second round pick.

I'd take Nash over Franzen, if only because Franzen keeps getting hurt at the end of the year. If he stays healthy, he's a beast, but he doesn't seem to be able to given his style of play.

I'd hate to see him go, as he's scored some big goals over the years, but I think now is the time.

That dude's a dick, I don't need to 1) lose Parise and 2) know that douche is bragging about it, lol.

Well, that name doesn't exactly inspire confidence.

2012-07-02 05:03:46 PM
Never mind, everybody, Parise's announcement was that he's going home tomorrow to talk things over with his family. New Jersey still in the mix.

Because a picture of Stephane Matteau with a Devils hat on is totally fitting today's clusterfark.

I joked that I would find a "The Decision" - type interview with Grapes to be a hysterical ending to Parise's quest.

Now it is bordering on "what if.." status.

Thrakkorzog: TheHopeDiamond: Thrakkorzog: TheHopeDiamond: Shop Zetterberg. Neither he nor Datsyuk have any fire at all.

Both are key part of the Red Wings.

That's the sad part.

That's why we are the 2011-2012 Stanley Cup Conference Quarterfinal Runners-Up.

The whole team lacked any fire.

True, but those two are supposed to be the "heart" of the team. They have none, so the team had none.

On which point? By the way, load bongs, not guns.

On yotes not moving to Canada

Hows about if I'm right, you grease somebody's palm with maple syrup and back bacon to score me two tickets to the Leafs season opener against Montreal. If you're right, I'll shoot myself in the foot.

/Still wants my Leafs tickets - since Leafs tickets to the home/season opener will be impossible to get, anyone got a lead on a good hockey bar in Toronto for the game?

THIS.

I hope they have enough hookers and blow to keep him entertained. Happy runs hot and cold in the worst way. 2 Game winning goals last season, and a minus 7 on ice. If he was a baseball player, he'd be like a home run hitter that always says "I lost it in the lights" when he drops the easy pop-up fly catch and can't throw on target more than 30 feet away.

Yep. Just as soon as Calgary signs Zetterberg to feed him pucks.

Also, Hudler had an unsustainably high 20% shooting percentage last year. You really think that's gonna happen again? He's gonna have a Leino-esque dropoff.

Mark my words. I heard it from a VERY reliable source. I get it if you think I'm just prospecting or blowing smoke out of my ass. I just know it's a done deal and will be announced tomorrow, and maybe for Parise even this evening. I probably wouldn't believe me either, just wait until tomorrow.

From TSN

The Phoenix Coyotes say that forward Brett MacLean suffered a cardiac emergency on Monday night in Owen Sound, Ontario.

"Brett was playing hockey last night when he suffered a medical emergency," said Coyotes general manager Don Maloney in a statement. "Brett received CPR on site and was taken to a local hospital by ambulance where he was treated. He was then transported via an air ambulance to Knight University Hospital in London, Ontario where he was admitted to the cardiac ICU.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with Brett and his family," Maloney continued. "We request that everyone please respect their privacy at this time. We will provide an update on Brett's status when information is available."

And nice work, Minnesota on getting those guys. I don't think anyone could've seen that coming 36 hrs ago.

Yep, very true.

Well, at least he didn't sign with any of the Atlantic Division rivals, he went back home. 13/$98M. Good luck, thanks for all you did in a Devils sweater, Zach.

As a Wild fan i'm overjoyed, but this part of it sucks. You hate to see a stand-up guy like Parise leave your team, but at least he gave NJ a shot at re-signing him.
