Even with Fark down, the idol shot out a beam of energy and caused Johnson to go from top 3 and threatening to win to like 8th or something.

And should mika wander into the thread... um, I had to borrow Pacedog for deployment onto Twitter:

Oh, and since we couldn't get an actual race-time thread, we were unable to comment on track owner Bruton Smith's latest brilliant plan to make the races more exciting: MORE COMPETITION CAUTIONS!

FTA: Keselowski, who wrecked his primary car after tangling with Juan Montoya on the first lap of Friday's first practice session, picked up his series-best third victory of the season and the seventh of his career, all but assuring himself of a position in the Chase for the Sprint Cup.

who hasn't montoya wrecked.

Every time he wins, I chuckle.

Remember when Earnhardt Jr. said he wasn't ready for cup when he signed with Penske?

2012-07-01 09:35:24 AM
In other news Carl Edwards was seen snuggling up to Kesellowsky's left rear bumper and mouthing the word "soon".

Fantasy wise, I failed through laziness once again, and didn't realize I lacked an active C-team driver until it was too late to change it.

Still, my team of Krashalotski, Truex, Bowyer, and Brian Vickers (NOT ENTERED) did pretty well, all things considered.

Holy cow - Krashalotski wins and I picked him as my A-driver???? Dumb luck to the rescue!

in other news, Denny re-upped with JGR and the rumor is Kenseth is headed there next year as well. If that's the case, is J-Lo gone?

JGR says they are working hard to resign Joey to an extension. So with Kyle signed just last year and Denny just resigned I think the reason Matt can't say whats happening yet is that he is possibly taking a few sponsors with him for a 4th JGR team. They can't make announcements until the deals are signed and everything is settled.

Hamiln keeps Fed Ex, J-Lo takes M&M's, Matt takes Home Depot, Kyle does the combo Dollar General/Monster deal.....you heard it here first.

That sounds reasonable. I always thought Joey would serve M&Ms better than Kyle, and I like Matt in the Home Depot car. I never thought Home Depot fit Joey.

Home Depot should be reserved for those willing to take out a certain Lowes car

Too bad that we couldn't talk during the race last night. Nascarcasm was in rare form, here was his best tweet from last night

nascarcasm @nascarcasm

So we can suffer with viewers, every 7 laps they send old guy & kid out to infield grass to fight over mac & cheese or mashed potatoes.

But that ignores Matt bringing his own sponsors, and Home Depot is scaling down it's NASCAR involvement, Think about it, when was the last NASCAR themed HD commercial you saw? Joeys first year. I do think Hamlin stays Fed-Ex and I could see sliding M&M to Joey and making him a Gamestop/M&M car (good crosssponsorship synergy) Kyle might be a grab bag Monster/Dollar General/ Interstate Battery(they have alot of money invested in a fleet of delivery trucks with the 18 on them stretching back longer than a decade, they arent going anywhere)/Doublemint.

Not sure who Matt will be, Best Buy has a history of team hopping but the Gamestop connection for JGR might be a deal breaker. Home Depot may be a part of it but I think a secondary part at best.

I think it's asinine to speculate on which driver brings which sponsor to a team. long term contracts are with team owners, not drivers. you think Home Depot *wanted* Logano??? In the big picture of fortune 500 companies, NASCAR sponsorship is probably an afterthought.

I got last week's numbers wrong (misread them) -- it was 2:1 race to commercial, not 1:1.

I'd like to add -- that late debris caution, was that for a sock?
