Has anyone tried the bacon maple ale? I'm intrigued.

I second Dogfish Head. That's good stuff.

Okay, seriously, am I the only one who hates Ranger? I've tried it a couple of times, and it's always just plain nasty. Normally I enjoy hoppy beers, especially with spicy foods, so I'm not sure what the deal is. It's too bad, since normally I really like New Belgium.

Beer snobs talk about beers like this. I, however, am a beer asshole, I brew my own and don't share it with anyone.

Beer is disgusting swill in general. I'd rather just eat bread and drink water.

Yes, that bacon maple one is very relative to my interests and the interests of my bacon beer-loving camping friends as well.

I am...intrigued

true manly beer aficionados could care less how it tastes going down. it's how it tastes coming back out, that's what separates the wimps from the heroes.

After drinking them are you going to troll threads and make racist comments in any thread related to Trayvon Martin? Or does the extra 1/2 beer thrown in there mellow you out?

Bleahhhhhh.

Some of these are definitely not summer beers. Midas Touch is fine, sure, but it's too sweet and heavy for summer. I've never had the Rogue Ales Bacon Maple Ale, but I can't imagine that's really great beneath the blazing summer sun.

I'll make it easy: Saison.

Yes. It's too salty to the point it doesn't taste like bacon. Would gave been better as just a maple beer.

It's a real shame that Shiner Ruby Redbird wasn't included on the list.

For anyone who's unfortunate enough to be outside Shiner's distribution area, imagine the best thing you've ever tasted, and mentally add a little something extra. That's what the Redbird tastes of. Absolutely fantastic stuff.

So very true. And now I need to find that prickly pear by shiner. Best thing about living in Texas is Shiners.

I have had/have access to 4 of those for the past year. The article isn't wrong. They are awesome.

That was too sour for me unless I'm thinking of Six Row Honey Weizen......

I will have to see if I can't find that cider. I like beer, but ever since brewing my own hard cider I have really taken a liking to the stuff.

ok, I'll admit my mind closed at this:

Rogue Ales Bacon Maple Ale: This collaboration with VoooDoo Donuts is brewed with maple syrup and bacon. This beer is a perfect breakfast beer on your next camping trip. Do not tell me I am the only one that has morning cocktails on vacation. This quirky novelty has tons of smoky aromas and wood esters. There is also a ton of maple in the aroma and the flavor. Rogue Ales Bacon Maple Ale is also a great cooking beer! Maple braised breakfast sausages anyone?

2012-07-01 06:50:05 AM
Am I meant to drink them all at the same time?

2012-07-01 06:57:50 AM
I love Rogue Ales, especially Dead Guy, and I love bacon but the Maple Bacon one was disgustingly salty. I bought two and I was quite disappointed. At somewhere around $13 for a 750 ml (25 oz) bottle it's just a novelty beer. The bottle is cool though. It's pink and features the Voodoo Donuts guy.

2012-07-01 07:19:12 AM
My concern is that all lagers and pilseners from Germany have been supplanted at the tap by something known as wheat beer. This is wrong. I'm not hoppy about it.

2012-07-01 07:35:20 AM
I came here expecting a Zimmerman/Martin thread.

2012-07-01 07:39:29 AM
Not that I mind hoppy beer, love it to be honest, but gotta have some variety.

Given how stupid hot it is in the Mid-Atlantic... Dogfishhead's Peche Festina is a damned tasty beer.

I will stick to my Sam Adams and Guiness. On hot days after cutting the grass, its Michelob Ultra Lime-Cactus.
