In their defense South Florida is full of weird exotics people keep as pets and then let go. So just because it's not one of the North American venomous snakes doesn't mean it's safe.

The nearly two-foot long, non-venomous snake was captured just hours later.

Two-foot long and non-venomous? Pansies.

Try having a 25 foot albino Burmese draped on you for half an hour because you're warm.

Another time, I found a little grass snake trying to sun on my porch, which was concrete and in the high 30's (in Fahrenheit). I was going to put the guy in the grass, but as soon as my hand got near... It slipped right up onto my palm and curled up, icy cold. He didn't move for 20 minutes, then seemed to have a ball just slithering between my fingers. Took him about three minutes to realize I was holding him over the grass to go about his day, or find a warm hole to hide in.

Snakes do love a warm body. This is probably why I have never been bitten by a northern water snake. They're not venomous, but are excitable and prone to biting according to various field guides. But it was a chilly day when I was able to catch and hold a wild one. Apparently, "ooh, warm" takes precedence over "threat bad!"

(Yes I picked up a snake without knowing what species it was. Don't do that in Florida. But in Michigan, if it's not a rattler, you're fine.)

They can close mine, I'm sure whoever else they pick from some other post office cant do a worse job of losing my mail, leaving "come get this at the post office because I'm too lazy to carry it to your door" notices, hell my delivery guy even lost a box with a directv receiver in it that I was returning. Never made it to the post office. A company tried to send me a small part to fix a saw, and after two "we lost it" moves by the usps the company just shipped me a new saw by fed-ex, so I'd have a chance of getting it.

All they deliver is junk mail I don't want and stuff from the three companies that haven't figured out autopay yet. They can DIAF along with my post office.

I still find it hilarious that I have ontrac, fed-ex, ups and the usps all show up at my house almost every day.
