It amazes me the hate some people have for fans of this show. Its like they're perpetual high schoolers trying to look cool by picking on someone different. And much like those high schoolers, the only person they make look pathetic is themselves.

loveblondieo: Not a fangirl, but I hate the animation of the new My Little Pony and Pound Puppies. They just look too weird. Cartoons were at their peak in 80s, why not just re-air them?

I think the 80s versions are the ugly ones. They're so fat and weird looking, not to mention boring.

This is usually my reaction to seeing them: Applejack meets G1 Applejack

Maybe it would have helped if they looked like this:

From Transformers: Prime. One of the best Starscreams so far.

www.comicbookmovie.com

His alt mode is an F-16 Falcon. He's far more nuanced than many other Starscreams, and a lot more evil. He still has his tendency to panic when things turn south, though, but he's also braver and a better fighter this time.

fc07.deviantart.net

He also has an Autobot kill under his belt: in the very first episode, he murders Cliffjumper in cold blood by stabbing him through his spark with his fingers/claws. Right now, due to a variety of circumstances, he's a rogue agent, part of neither side and with a Decepticon price on his head. Not surprising, considering how Prime's version of Megatron:

images2.wikia.nocookie.net

images3.wikia.nocookie.net

images2.wikia.nocookie.net

Is an absolute monster. But an awesome and amazing monster. "Prime" is oen of the best Transformers series to date, I highly recommend it.

Play the game "Transformers: War for Cybertron" and read the novels "Exodus" and "Exiles" for a bit of backstory, they're all part of the Aligned continuity/universe.

As a 27-year-old gay man who played with the original My Little Ponies* when I was 4-5 years old. . . I really don't care. Apparently, the new cartoon is well-written, which is great. Kids TV that promotes co-viewership (i.e. parents watching with their kids) is rare and should be treasured.

current cartoons don't hold a candle to cartoons through the mid-90s. The environment artistry is just crap, as is the linework and lack of individual characters. Look at the backgrounds in old cartoons with actual nicely done detailed environments compared with the lazy as fark basic shapes with a gradient slapped on. same thing with visual character features. all the new ponies look exactly the same, where as in the original you could tell the general disposition of a character through the way it was drawn.

current cartoons are just farking cheap. i would say the artists are lazy but i'm sure they'd rather make something nice rather than churning out barrel scraping imagery.

I am an adult woman who was the right age for being a My Little Pony collector in the 80s. I did not collect them, but many of my friends did. The reason I hate bronies is for forcing me to be aware that they were all whacking it to their sisters' pony dolls way back then.

On top of that, now, thanks to the internet, they have formed an unstoppable army of adult wankers who think they are some kind of persecuted minority. Seriously, the other day someone I used to respect thought he should be congratulated because he didn't get upset when a guy at the gym called him a gay slur for wearing a My Little Pony shirt. He's not even gay, but now, because of bronydom, he knows how it feels to be targeted by homophobes. Christ.

Apologies for the confusion. I just remember your excellent comic (noun, not adjective) explanation of the Fukushima disaster. In any case, you're using more grey matter than I have available.

I haven't played since like.. 1986 (old).. It was the 1981 starter box we played with... wow. (The Keep on the Borderlands!!) Drew a ton of maps, wrote some stories. Anyway, I don't know anyone anymore that would be into it. The funny thing is that I'm an animator (default nerd) and the thing that amazes me the most is that animators.. they're.. not really all that interesting. There's some good folks, sure, but.. They've got kind of one-track minds. See all the animated movies, gush about them, hit the clubs (if under 30) talk about their mortgages or stock acquisitions (if over). Boring people, really.

Anyway.. yeah . I'm all for people liking whatever they're into, (god knows I'm into some weird stuff).. I'll accept it, but the Brony thing I don't totally get. (This coming from an aficionado of Chip and Dale's Rescue Rangers - probably a big part of what sent me into this goofy career. Don't get me wrong, though.. I wasn't into Gadget.. HONEST). Sadly, I can't stand animation now. I think the last animated movie I saw in the theater was "A Town Called Panic". It was awesome, but not really 'animated' in the current popular sense. (the pose, squish, head turn, eyebrow raise style that's been taught in animation mills for the past 12 years or so. ) Check it out.. it's good for a laugh.

In short, I love the process, hate that it's been limited to a handful of CG rules. See, I started in stop-motion before heavy computer assist.. So you planned things out, timings, etc, but it was pretty much straight ahead stuff. You learned to roll with it. It's different now - there are revisions after revisions. .tends to take the spontaneity out of the shot. Even the folks that claim some sort of Avery inspiration miss the point entirely. Not everything has to be one huge take, for god's sake. It's all about contrast and economy! Hit a high note, then chill for a while. Do a long hold. And don't get me started on that certified pervert John K, or the absolute animnazi 9 old men curmudgeons at cartoon brew.. but I.. er. what was the question again?

D&D. .yeah.. I'm down for that. Sorry for the rant. Been a long, stupid week.

+3 bag of incoherence

I realize you're probably trolling but just to set your mind at ease no, they weren't. For one thing there were no bronies in the 80s because the old show was pure crap, and even now most bronies don't care about the stupid toys. Some do collect them, more often than not fan made figures and not the official ones. They don't "whack it to" them though any more than people whack it to Star Wars figures. Like it's their fault you're such a weenie over a simplistic style choice. They didn't have much of a budget to work with, that's the best they could do, and they did fine with it. At least it was animated, unlike the Generation 1 series which exchanged intricate motion for heavy detail.

I'm not trolling. I really hate that people are defending these morons who should be mocked for the internet's amusement just as furries and adult babies are mocked. They invade any board that does mock them. And there is enough rule 34 fan art out there that many of them have to be sexually attracted to the ponies. A weird fetish like that had to start in childhood, therefore, yes they were secretly brushing my friends' toys' hair with one hand. Ew.

I don't care if they like it, I just want them to shut up about it, and stop acting like everyone is picking on them for no good reason.

You make a very good point. Ball games are huge cosplay events. I love how an out-of-shape doofus spending hundreds of dollars to dress up as their favorite shortstop somehow makes them more of a fan than the guy that shows up with a head full of statistics and a scorecard, but without a $150 team jersey and sanctioned seat cushion.

I've been to Raiders games, too... total loons...

full disclosure: a couple of weeks ago I was in a bar that had well, I guess you'd call them "house" heads.. A big white rabbit and a big bambi-like deer that lived above the jukebox. At one point my friend dumped the rabbit onto my head. You know something? It was kinda fun. Looking out through the rabbit's goofy mesh grin I felt my gestures get broader, my voice louder... I had the urge to dance.. I think I can understand the attraction. It was fun. Unfortunately, I have a long-standing personal rule against things I find fun (with the obvious liquor loophole), so.. that's not going to happen again soon. Good times, though. Jesus christ I need to get out of here.
