What a farking joke. You actually believe that the US has the only adequate healthcare system in the world. That's cute.

FACT: The US pays more per capita and per GDP on healthcare by a large margin than any other country.

FACT: Administrative costs in the US healthcare system, most of which are Billing and Coding, dwarf those of all other countries.

FACT: The US has among the worst ratio of gross medical expenditures vs. amount spent on patient care anywhere in the world.

FACT: Medical bills account for most bankruptcies in the us.

Your whole line about "the rule of law has been destroyed" is so farking tired. For real. If you get health insurance, there's no new tax.

If you refuse to either take part in medicaid, the exchanges, your employers plan, or purchase it some other way, then the tax for you would be 95 dollars in 2014, 300 dollars in 2015, 695 in 2016, and the higher of either 695 (inflation adjusted) or 2.2 percent of your gross adjusted income thereafter.

I don't know why anyone bothers to watch CNN anymore. They have been really going downhill especially since Turner sold his stake in the company. Wolf Blitzer is a full on retard.

Your job is to report the news, not to get the f*cking scoop on other TV shows. This isn't a newspaper.

They would have been better off tuning into scotusblog. I'm thankful Fark put scotusblog's link up yesterday because the coverage from them was MUCH better. I didn't have to participate in the CNN debacle.

Just wait until you have back problems from driving that truck day in and day out. You know that being a truck driver is listed as one of the top ten most dangerous jobs in America? It's not because of accidents; it's largely because of cumulative back problems. Worried about a tax? How about the $120 you're going to have to pay every time you go to the chiropractor, and then don't even get started on how much the surgery is going to cost. Yeah, back surgeries don't get done by orthopedic surgeons, they get done by neurosurgeons. Neurosurgeons don't come cheap. Lumbar fusion could set you back about $90,000.

You're gonna be happy for that insurance in the long run.

For people who seem to only get their information from Fox News (and are thus clueless), your taxes are going up by a jillionty dollars.

For the rest of us, if we have medical insurance, they don't go up at all.

It really is remarkable how farking bad CNN has become. Every single facet of it. The anchors/personalities, the programming lineup. I mean even their website is a farking trainwreck.

Look at this crap from 'This Just In' section where the bulk of the 'news' they cover can be found on the main page. It's just rows of hyperlinks on unrelated subjects. I mean look at this pile of fail on their right now:

• Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes split | Photos
• 5 ways to cope with heat | U.S. bakes
• Postal Service closures start next week
• Stocks soar on eurozone news
• House OKs highway, student loan bill
• Hijack attempt thwarted in China
• Madoff's brother pleads guilty
• Arsonist dies after verdict in court
• GOP launches anti-Obamacare blitz
• Zimmerman seeks new bond
• Boy missing after Olympic torch relay
• Holder held in contempt | Reaction
• 31 victims ID'd in Air Force sex scandal
• NBA draft night winners, losers SI
• Nadal upset SI | Who is this upstart?
• Ticker: Obama's 'BFD' shirt
• Reporter stripped, sexually attacked
• Man jumps to help baby on tracks
• Rielle Hunter grilled over privacy
• Ke$ha gets a tattoo where?

It's like Drudge without the sirens.

Why Fareed Zakaria has a show on there (granted one buried at a horrible timeslot one day a week) is beyond me.

Isn't it always in the interest of the insurers and what have you to pay the least amount as possible. Once they have your premiums... why would they willingly tolerate an expense without first exercising every possible avenue for withholding coverage. How can anyone think this is desirable state of things?

Also, we get much less bang for our buck: From a pure cost-benefit perspective, we're paying much more to life less. Our cost per capita is soaring, but our life expectancy and quality of life are declining, in comparison to other top wealthy nations of the world. Put simply, whatever we're doing, we're clearly doing it wrong. Or at least wronger than those other countries.

I work with public records, and many foreclosures I see are preceded by judgment liens -- people lose their homes because they have trouble settling debts. What are those debts? Some are what you'd expect -- credit cards and the like. But the vast majority originate with medical bills. I'm pretty sure we're the only country in the world with mostly paved roads where people can lose their homes for getting sick.

The SCOTUS did rule the individual mandate unconstitutional under the commerce clause, which is what the Dems said authorized it. What makes it Constitutional is the fact that it's a tax if you don't have insurance, which is what President Obama said it wasn't.

So the Dems won a victory on the law, but the door of using the commerce clause to compel commerce remains closed. Sort of. That has to be one of the more tightrope walks of a decision I've seen. That may seem like nitpicking, but we are talking about the law. It's all nitpicking.

The Obama plan sounds like it's cheaper for poor and lower middle class families, and it's waaaaaaaaaaaay cheaper for those who are already living comfortably. But I haven't studied it.

OK, I really don't think you're trolling here; I assume you just truly have no clue about what is and is not being taxed, and what not having health insurance means to you, personally.

You have a family income of $110k a year and you don't currently have health insurance? That is... a bad, bad idea. A sudden catastrophe that costs a farkton of money and stops you from working for a while will eat through your savings horribly fast, if you have any. If you were at the $500k level, I might, might think you'd made an OK decision. Maybe.

So. Your company apparently offers medical. TAKE IT. Just... just, please, for the good of everyone, take it. Especially if the job offers a level where you don't pay, in which case, why don't you already have it? I'm uncertain why that would require you to tailor your job time, but happy to hear your explanation.

Since you, apparently, won't be paying anything for insurance, but you will have it, you won't be subject to the taxes. There. Done.

----

For the rest of the morons who keep saying "THEYRE GONNA TAX INCOMES UNDER 250K OMG ONOZ":

A. If you have an income between $75k and $250k, chances are you're eligible for insurance through your employer. If you're not taking that, then you're an idiot--and a freeloader.
B. If you have an income lower than that, and you still don't have insurance, you will qualify for a tax rebate, yes, rebate, that will pay for most, if not all, of your insurance.

The only people subject to any new expenses are people who could previously afford insurance but didn't buy it, and will now have to do so or pay the tax. This class of people are what I call "freeloaders." Eventually, the rest of us who pay into the system will have to pay for your medical bills, probably through EMTALA.

That said, I would have been plenty happy with a provision that, instead of putting in the tax penalty, revoked EMTALA and similar protections for people who didn't have insurance and weren't completely indigent/homeless/etc. Those people would, of course, die when they had a catastrophe.

After speaking with a couple of conservative co-workers (who of course have insurance through work) the consensus seems to be that they simply don't like that they have to be FORCED by the big bad government to get insurance or pay a tax -- even though they've never ever been poor enough where weighing health coverage versus grocery bills is a tough choice.

Honestly, who would opt to pay the tax and not get coverage? I'm guessing the tax is probably as expensive as the insurance itself.
