Bill_Wick's_Friend: The right wing bloggers really have to abandon the "this tape will come out and it will STUN YOU!!!" line of attack, or at least save it for times when,...y'know....they actually have a video and that the images on that video might be in some way shocking or surprising.

They've just defined STUNNING! down. Look at the entire Breitbart "vetting" series.

- Obama introduced and then man-hugged a black guy
- Obama's name showed up on his undergrad graduation announcement
- The composite characters that Obama said were composite characters in his book were composite characters in his book.

Some time ago, this dude found me through a #teaparty hash tag I put in one of my tweets. After a couple of exchanges I realized this dude is nuttier than a shiathouse rat.

Link

He mostly does re-tweets not, but his originals are gems.

Two things love:

That he refers to HIMSELF as compelling.

And that he seeks self-evident truth.

Think about that second one for a bit. I'll wait.

That's what the lieberal lamestream media wants you to think.. It's all part of covering up the fact that Malcom X is Barack Obama's Real Father

Diogenes: Esc7: How is it that conservatives seem to have no imagination, but keep coming up with most outlandish fantasies?

The line between genius and insanity is very thin, my friend. Don't mistake unfocused paranoid delusions for creativity.

I seriously believe that Paranoid Schizophrenia, or a milder form (like asperger's to autism) is statistically more prevalent among right wing, especially the fringe.

There seem to be legions of people whose pattern recognition engine has gone haywire by being tangled into their fear response mechanism. Add simplistic philosophies that thrive off of a persecution complex and shake and you've got yourself a crazy voting bloc.

It kinda makes me sad, because I see people frothing and hating so much on the internet, about things that aren't even real, and I feel like if they got some help maybe they would feel better.

It's just another consequence of epistemic closure. The logic goes like this (and I really wish I was exaggerating or making this up):

- If a source is liberally-biased, anything it says is not to be trusted.
- If a source says anything that contradicts conservative dogma, that source is liberally-biased.
- Therefore no trustworthy source contradicts conservative dogma, therefore it's correct.

Once you have this enmeshed firmly enough, conservative dogma need not have any correspondence with reality (anyone who points out any incompatibilities with reality automatically becomes untrustworthy).

Once your belief system ceases to have any "reality check", it can get pretty crazy pretty quick.

FloydA: Job Creator: Rapmaster2000: There was a story a couple years ago about a school system that took away hamburgers, pizza, chicken nuggets and all the good stuff. A bunch of liberal nuts created a menu of quinoa, bean salad, and a bunch of other crap that nobody wants to eat. It took about 3 weeks for a thriving black market food exchange to develop. The kids were buying and selling smuggled cheeseburgers and pizza. Are wonder if there are doctors who will just treat us for cash under the table?

There are a lot of these stories that don't have a who, where, or a when involved in them that are retold and believed even though they did not actually happen. They just sound like something that would happen if you're a derptard. Quinoa? Really? I know it sounds funny and weird, but I doubt there was public school where children were forced to eat quinoa because public schools don't have the money for exotic grains from Bolivia.

My favorite "story" is the one about the guy who was told by the libs not to clear brush, but then he cleared brush and then everyones house burned down except for the heroic libertarian who cleared the brush from HIS property. He stood on a hillside watching the fires burn his lib neighbors... his oiled pecs glistening in the sun.

These stories never even are close to plausible. Why would there be "black market" doctors? ACA didn't make it illegal to pay cash and didn't make it illegal for doctors to accept it.

I can't wait for the FW FW FW FW Emails to come out. Will be watching My Right Wing Dad very closely in the next few days.

Wait a second. Why would someone buy a cheeseburger or pizza that a school kid smuggled to school in his backpack or pocket? By lunchtime, it would be cold, squashed, and covered in lint. No matter how little you like quinoa or beans, it's got to be more appetizing than a pre-teen's pocket lint.

Two reasons Johnny Bobs did this:

1) To "Protect his legacy". It makes it look like he does approve of the law and that he had a change of heart and did the right thing.

2) It actually opens the door for future challenges by the GOP as, the decision wasn't that he approves because Congress has a right to pass the individual mandate, but that thie individual mandate is just another tax. THis sets up the GOP to come back and try to repeal this in the future as they would any other tax.

3) Because without the individual mandate the insurance companies lose billions of dollars. Both from the lost customers that are now guaranteed to them under the mandate, and because they would then have to foot the bill for any money that wasn't collected via the mandate requirements.

So have no fear. Johnny Bobs is still in the pocket of the corporate kleptocratic elites. Remember: this is the guy that approved of Citizen's United.

Well Rush et al should keep farking that chicken. If Chief Justice Roberts happened to be gay, I would hope that he would have the integrity to reject a political philosophy whose adherents continue to seek to restrict the rights of any minority group who it is 'acceptable', or at least, 'not unacceptable' to discriminate against. The really repugnant of the modern Republican politics is the tendancy to bully those who they can safely get away with ostracising. eg in 1988 running the willie horton ads, in 2004 using 'gay marriage' ammendments as a wedge issue to drive voters to the polls. Until such behavior is rejected out of hand by right minded Republicans, we remain at risk of devolving into a one-party system, which ultimately will be bad for anyone who isn't running for elected office

/plenty of Democrats were complicit in the financial crisis of 2008, there just isn't a morally viable alternative in modern American politics

ferretman: Whereas I don't like Obamacare (because it is a tax as per the SCOTUS ruling), Roberts made the correct decision (I think). It is no SCOTUS's place to tell 'The People' whether a pass law is a good one or a disaster; their job is to judge the constitutionality of passed laws.

During ACA arguments the Obama Administration argued that it is constitutional as a TAX (even though Obama stated it is not in 2009). They didn't even bother arguing that it was constitutional under the Commerce Clause (as the dems repeatedly stated it was during voting for passage).

For the Dems memebrs who are up for re-election and that voted for passage, they should be asked that if they had know it would be a TAX instead of Mandate (under CC) would they have still voted for it.

/That is at least my understanding of events.
//If dems have been calling it a TAX all along and were for it, please cite.

If you love avoiding taxes as much as I do, you'll get yourself some health insurance.

If not, boy, that $95 penalty is really going to put a big hurting on the old bank account. You'll have to give up a good meal, or possibly a ball game.

1. He's the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. I think his legacy is pretty well set.
2. No, it doesn't. It does showcase a less favorable position of the current court towards the 'I-Win' button of Commerce Clause arguments.
3. Possibly. We'll never know now will we.

Another Farker posted this earlier.

"Pseudoconservativism is among other things a disorder in relation to authority, characterized by an inability to find other modes for human relationship than those of more or less complete domination or submission. . . . The pseudo-conservative is a man who, in the name of upholding traditional American values and institutions and defending them against more or less fictitious dangers, consciously or unconsciously aims at their abolition. . . . [He] sees his own country as being so weak that it is constantly about to fall victim to subversion; and yet he feels that it is so all-powerful that any failure it may experience in getting its way in the world . . . cannot possibly be due to its limitations but must be attributed to its having been betrayed."

Bill_Wick's_Friend: A Secret Service agent overheard Obama and Axelrod discussing the Roberts blackmail. He managed to get them on tape discussing it. Later this afternoon, the whole story will come out,

"I've got videos. This election we're going to vet him. From his college days, to show you why racial division and class warfare are central to what 'hope and change' was sold in 2008.

The videos are going to come out."

- Brietbart

"I learned over the weekend why the Republicans who have seen the tape of Michelle Obama ranting about "whitey" describe it as "STUNNING." I have not seen it but I have heard from five separate sources who have spoken directly with people who have seen the tape. It features Michelle Obama and Louis Farrakhan. They are sitting on a panel at Jeremiah Wright's Church when Michelle makes her intemperate remarks. Whoops!! When that image comes out it will enter the politcal ads hall of fame."

- Larry "No Quarter" Johnson

Yeah, I was a Black Marketeer... My wife(girlfriend at the time, of course) got a job at the local movie theater just as it went under new ownership, so her and other friends of mine got all of the 'old' candy. Not really 'old', it was perfectly fine the day before the new owner stepped in the door... Anyway, this was in the late 80's, when any school group could raise money for their cause by selling candy. I made 30 or 40 bucks by the time I ran out of candy. It was never 'for sale', I just happened to have it on my desk, and people would give me money for it. The people from the different fundraising groups were pissed, but since I wasn't searching out buyers, the school felt that I wasn't exactly breaking the rules...

When my son is my age, will he be able to call the doctor and go see him?

YOU FARKING MORON, THIS IS THE DAMN POINT!

I can't get diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome because of insurance. So guess what? If I end up needing a surgery or have an injury, and I tell a doctor that, s\he might believe me...or might not, because it was never farking diagnosed. So what's my choice here? Don't get sick?

And our entire system rests on the idea that companies can boot out anyone, for any reason. I saw a fundraiser at my mother's church once for a woman who was being denied cancer treatments because her acne was a pre-existing condition.

This law will not hurt anyone. You're whining about nothing most of the time, and even your most logical argument--that forcing people to buy a product is immoral--puts idealism above a very broken reality.

In the meantime, the GOP is going in the opposite direction. UVA is soon going to lose its right to be considered a top-flight school because the GOP in VA has been cutting its funding over and over again. It's gone from >$14k per student in 2000 to $15k per student from their Tea Party government.

I don't see anything inherent in the boundary between high school and college that suggests one should be free (with purchase of taxes) and the other should not, except status quo bias. If we just don't want to spend the money (e.g. we as a society don't think the investment is worthwhile) that's legit, but different.

State schools and community colleges have been getting to be less of a value lately. They'll always be problematic during recessions (otherwise a good time to go back to school) because States all have balanced-budget requirements, so they have to get cut-happy anytime the economy gets bad.
