It's called "working in television." It happens industry wide. Your local TV station has done the same douchey things to its employees too, only unlike Curry, who made millions and got a reported $10m severance package from the show, AND is still on the payroll in other areas, they were paying your reporter maybe 30-40 grand a year if he was lucky and gave him a 2 week severance pay when they booted him because the viewers "didn't respond to him."

I haven't watched Today since I was a kid when Gumbel and Pauley were hosting, but if Lauer really thought Curry was bringing the ratings down, he'd be crazy not to insist on a change. If the ratings come down enough, Today gets cancelled and then Lauer's out of a job too.

It's official. Savannah Guthrie has been named co-host of the Today Show, replacing Ann Curry.

Well boy, that puts my mind at ease.

I used to work at one of KVOA competitors in Tucson. Whenever we would cover the same story, she was always friendly and you could tell she was not your average tvbot.
