This is the greatest destruction of individual liberty since Dred Scott. This is the end of America as we know it. No exaggeration.

Should have added, "Best part? Forever!"

it's been interesting to watch how our local GOP shills echoed the talking points that were being put out into the infosphere by key conservatives yesterday. Limbaugh make a few incoherent statements and not 20 min later, several of our more well known shills were repeating his commentary almost verbatim. if nothing else, it proves that our fark local shills are very much in tune with the latest GOP propaganda memes.

Hm... If all taxes are "job killing," like the right keeps saying, maybe we should eliminate all taxes entirely? That should boost us up to 100% employment!

Keep in mind that 'taxes' are important to the fringe GOP, mostly due to the Norquist blood oath that most of them all signed.

I am so utterly farking exhausted by the lie that taxes are too high and that lowering them will magically make everything better.

Is there any chance in hell that we'll ever break the GOP of this stupid piece of rhetoric?

This tremendous victory for Obama will totally end him, because now the GOP can run on anti-tax rhetoric, which they've never ever done before. It will all be fresh and original.

Nah. It's been that way since Reagan at least. Add that to the fact that the American Revolution was about taxes in some way (the right tends to be a little hazy on details) and you've got their gospel.

Conservatives need to relax. He cut off any attempts for progressives to try to use the commerce clause in the future to expand government power. He left the healthcare debate in the political field. He made the left admit it is a giant tax and they decieved the America people to sell it. He trolled them very hard while they applauded him. He is pretty clever.

At least, as promised, Boehner didn't spike the football.

No, not really. The Supremes gave the Commerce Clause argument a whiff; we can always come back around to it if we need to.

You're better off arguing that by reasserting the Federal Government's right to tax, that they can now... tax us (a real shocker).

the job creators are the bottom 99% who buy stuff every week.

trickle down never has worked. we've tried it for 30 yrs and the rich get richer the middle class gets poorer.
it doesn't create jobs.(not here anyway)
it creates more debt

someone has to pay the bills
the top 1% has 80% of all the money.
the other 20% is divided amongst the other 99%
and they're fighting to make ends meet every month.

for once can you people just lose sight of this whole idea of us vs them mentality and help us save this country?
we're all in this together.
well at least 99% of us.
we cannot continue to make war all over the world
send all our jobs overseas
and give all our money to those who do not put it back into our economy.
they hoard it. or they invest in foreign ventures.

How do you figure? That was just his opinion, it wasn't shared by the other four justices he joined with, and it doesn't set any precedents.

Anyway, I used the WaPo healthcare law calculator to determine how the law affects me. My wife and I are both 30, we make upper-middle income type money, and we currently have health insurance through my employer. The result:

Your coverage:

Right now:Your insurer cannot set a lifetime limit on benefit payouts. Any annual limits will be phased out by 2014.

Your insurer cannot cancel your plan after you get sick based on a technicality, or discriminate against your children if they have a pre-existing condition.

You may also be entitled to coverage of preventive services without out-of-pocket charges.

If you are an adult under age 26, and one or both of your parents have a health plan, they may be able to put you on it. If you have adult children you can probably keep them on your plan until they are 26.

Starting in 2014:Insurers can't discriminate against you for having a pre-existing condition, and can only vary rates within a narrow range.

If the plan offered by your employer doesn't meet the law's standards of affordability or comprehensiveness, you can buy a different plan through your state's exchange. Based on your income, you probably would not qualify for federal assistance to offset the cost of that plan.

Truly horrifying. What a monster this man is.

And, frankly, if my plan costs go up, I'm fine that. Losing the benefit cap and the preexisting conditions changes alone are worth it.

Jackson Herring: Weaver95: the latest GOP propaganda memes.

You mean "perfectly valid opposing opinions", right?

I don't think the GOP is capable of formulating a valid opposing viewpoint anymore. Now - i'm not saying that you cannot oppose Obama or the Democrats. Of course you can find reasonable and logical objections to several of the Democrat's positions. However, the GOP doesn't stop to calmly and logically think through their opposition - they react on emotion, not logic. they don't even TRY to discuss reasonable alternatives...the Republicans have a set of ideas which are inflexible and absolute and they apply that ideological template to each and every situation and bit of legislation. if something 'sticks out' from under the template then they lop it off and ignore the potential damage it'll cause. And you aren't permitted to disagree with the GOP conclusions either - if you do then you are 'the enemy'. you either completely agree with everything the Republican leadership says or you are 'a librul' and kicked out of the group mind.
