You mean "Edward Van Halen". Like the tape said.

/I hope I'm remembering that correctly

Something just occurred to me. All these years, people wondered if it was from an actual song. Eddie says that he was just playing a bunch of noise. That suggests that a lot of people can't tell the difference between music and someone who needs a Rodco Rock Box

Given the similarity between that bit of guitar wankery and bits of "Eruption", then you can see where people might get a tad confused.

You mean if people hear a clip of a musical instrument being played, people assume it to be playing a song?? Holy Shiat!

/I can name that tune in 3 notes.

This seems like a weird question to ask Eddie Van Halen if you get only one. Then again, I'm sure he's answered all the obvious ones 100 times over by now.

It's either this question, or "Was Valeri Bertinelli a better fark when she was a fatty?"

2012-06-29 09:17:44 AM
Oh, no...that wasn't Eddie Van Halen. That was the guy who did the guitar solo for Michael Jackson's "Beat It". But I can see where you'd be easily confused...

In all fairness, he probably didn't remember actually recording it until recently. Maybe he was watching the movie on Netflix and thought it sounded familiar.

I knew that when i saw the movie when i was 14. Was this a huge secret?

I'm thinking Eddie got his jimmies rustled and was going to sue the movie studio for using his name and a clone guitarist. It took them years to convince Eddie that it was indeed him who did the recording.

IIRC, The first movie has already been re-re-rereleased on DVD as part of Universal's 100th Anniversary line of discs.

And you have to believe that the trilogy will get another rerelease in 2015 for the 30th anniversary. Hopefully, it'll get a theater rerelease that time around, too.

/the worst outcome would probably be a reboot for 2015. So, Universal probably has it ready to start filming any day.

So he doesn't know if it was part of a song or just him playing noise. So it's like every other Van Halen song?

/I know I know as a guitar player I'm supposed to drool every time I hear him
//pardon me for not getting excited about such deep songs as "Jump" or "Hot for Teacher".
///strip clubs are the appropriate place to listen to Van Halen. There is no excuse anywhere else

Not a bad plan. 'BTTF - The Director's Cut' could work, but if they even think of the prospect of considering the idea of doing a remake, we will have 'issues.'

The only thing left for Universal to do with BTTF that would get people to re-buy the damn thing again is to reconstruct the film with the Eric Stoltz footage.

...but you still can't say the totally PG, allowed-on-prime-time-television "b•tch" or the PG-13, allowed-on-late-night-television "sh•t" on Fark. I don't get it at all.

I wish they'd update the filter. There's no reason (except for some oddball sense of kitsch) that "b•tch" should still be censored while those other words are all perfectly fine.

Well as it's 30 years out... and he went back in time 30 years originally...wouldn't that mean the reboot would be him going back to 1985 from 2015 when the second movie was made and Oh, no, I've gone cross-eyed.

you forgot about 3D. If there is way to rerelease this for the 30th in 3D I would expect they will do it.

I would love to see all 3 movies back to back to back in the theatre. My kid and I did the toy story/toy story 2 in the theatre and we so enjoyed it.

I see it is still cool to hate EVH, especially if you claim to be a guitar player.

Face it, toolbags: his sound, style and technique changed the instrument forever. If he had been black, and choked to death on his own vomit in 1982, we'd be genuflecting after uttering his name.
