I can't stand scantrons. Anyone who's tried to feed them through the stupid machine will agree with me. Darken the circles completely, people!

All of my high school students hate it when I pull out the Scantron forms. But, I want them to get used to it as they will see a lot of Scantron tests in college.

I have moved much of my assessment tools to the Internet. They seem to like on-line tests a lot more than Scantrons.

Article: "Between the years 1945 and 1947, Sokolski served in Italy, fighting in the battle of Monte Cassino as a tank driver."

Monte Cassino was in 1944.

B-b-b-b-but the right answer wasn't on the test. So I picked the closest one.

You can gather some exceptional qualitative data by doing short quick assessments. Not the best for a full test of a content area, but great for tracking progress and spotting decencies. The machines are now linked to computers and the data is instantly available. Plus , the use a a database to maintain the data.

On March 18, 1965, a large load of bananas was spilled enroute to Scranto, PA. How many pounds of Bananas were spilled that day?

(A) 10,000
(B) 20,000
(C) 30,000
(D) 40,000

CSB: The office office I worked in got a new scanner when the SAT changed to include essays. Whereas the old one was a very benign-looking little beige thing, the new one was much larger, black, and had lots of smoked glass.

One guy looks at it for about a second and says "Look, it's Darth Grader."

It got such a good laugh that a visiting VP went and sent a company-wide email stealing his joke--except she called it "Darth Scanner." She didn't understand why nobody thought her joke was funny.
