Seems like an appropriate response to this nonsense.

Was listening to MSNBC on my way out to lunch and heard one of their talking heads actually say with a straight face that the Fortune article on F&F was "thoroughly debunked" by Townhall.

With a straight face! That's impressive.

On the day in which the U.S. House of Representatives has determined that Attorney General Eric Holder's actions are egregious enough to warrant a criminal contempt vote, the AG has skipped town and headed to ... Disneyworld.

I'd say that the contempt was flowing both ways in that transaction....

Whereas the Republicans have been completely non-partisan, interested only in what is best for America...

YOUR BLOG SUCKS

Why shouldn't he ignore it? It's a politically motivated vote that even Issa, who is running the damn committee, says is BS. Issa said there is no proof of Holder or Obama knowing about it and that's the fact. The documents the WH refused to disclose? They were internal policy memos discussing the investigation - communication memos.

Of course it's political theater. Political theater by the same people who WALKED OUT OF CONGRESS when the Democrats even discussed the investigation of former AG Gonzalez.

I don't know guys; someone really screwed up the fast and furious thing. Someone high on the food chain authorized some obvious straw buys. The plan would have worked if we had done more than sit on our hands.

Say partisan all you want; but someone let murderous drug cartels buy weapons from American gun dealers.

Someone should be held accountable. Because, someone screwed up.

If Holder is in "Contempt of Congress" and Congress has a 17% approval rating, that must mean that 83% of Americans support Holder.

Funny that about 100 Dem representatives did not vote in favor of Holder

That should tell all with at least a 2-digit IQ that Holder's own party really do not support him....and a bunch of DNC reps are worried about losing their seat if they vote in favor of man actively helping the Mexican Drug Cartels

How about the former AZ chief prosecutor who couldn't find a law broken so the guns could be legally interdicted.

Perhaps the officials at the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives should have conferred with the prosecutor prior to approving the operation that enabled the "straw buyers" to purchase firearms despite the objections of the federally licensed firearm sellers.

So, the prosecutor gets burned because he was unwilling to break the law or arrest them for littering?

Someone higher up gave the ok for the straw buys.

I usually avoid political discussions, but it's worth pointing out that you're argument actually supports Issa's argument. If the discussion went to the WH, executive privilege would apply. The fact the Hodder did or did not know anything is mostly irrelevant, too. The demand is that he turn over all documentation of F&F, not all documents about what he knew. The contempt is, in theory, based on the idea that he isn't turning over those documents, whether he knew about them originally out not.

Please note, this is not a comment on the reasonableness of the contempt charge.

Actually, I thought was for Congress. Because instead of legislation worth a shiat all we've gotten is social conservative bullshiat and political theater, all because of the black man in the White House. So your picture represents Congress flipping off the American people.

Partisan. Partisan, partisan, partisan. Partisan.

1. In ANY criminal investigation, the prosecutors want enough evidence they can actually USE against criminals. Having "some" evidence isn't enough. The apparent sitting on hands was caused in part by prosecutorial reluctance to go to trial without adequate evidence, especially in the face of historical difficulty in securing convictions. In any case this will be a judgement call (or more likely several), and in this case they delayed until something happened that shat all over the news.

Blame? Blame the people who pass laws that make it easy to get guns. Blame the people who are reluctant to cooperate in investigations into organized crime. Blame the people who pushed for the laws that made drug trafficking so lucrative.

2. The whole goddam point was that "murderous drug cartels" weren't buying from American gun dealers, they were dealing with people in THIS country who would take advantage of the lax NRA-backed firearm purchasing rules in some states (like AZ) to act as middlemen for the cartels in getting guns from American gun dealers. The whole thing was set up to catch the people IN THIS COUNTRY who were running guns. And they did.

Blame? Blame those whose economic policies make it better to run guns than work for a living. Blame Americans who don't care if brown people die.

3. A shootout happened in a foreign country and an American law enforcement agent was killed. At the scene afterwards were TWO guns that had been among the many that were TRACKED by the feds - tracked, not bought, not provided by the government - and there is NO evidence that either of them actually killed the US lawman in question.

Blame? How about whoever convinced the dead guy to go into law enforcement? Or the commanding officer who sent him to die? Or whoever decided we need to get our people involved in other country's messes? Or the evil Drug Smurfs, maybe?

Or maybe, just maybe, sometimes bad things happen and then rotten people try to take advantage of it for their own gain.

I don't like Holder at all, but for fark's sake, hoist him on a real petard, not this trumped up pointless political posturing.

2012-06-28 08:08:39 PM

I've lurked in a few of the various F&F threads, haven't said much, if anything at all but I've been wondering something ever since the Executive Privilege card got tossed out.

Honest question here so please no snark

If all of the documents being demanded / asked for are so important to the administration, why wasn't the EP thing done from very shortly after the get-go of this dog and pony show? Why did they wait until now?

I am so glad that ending drug prohibition would never work. This kind of corruption is endemic of a totally different problem. Nothing at all to do with morally skeevy laws designed to beat the home populace. Ignore the who reaps the money and benefit of these affronts to liberty.

To the "honorable" Congressman Issa,

There is one more document I wish to share with you.

Enclosed with this letter is a full-color picture of my testicles.

Feel free to lick them.

Yours in Christ, Eric Holder.
