You sort of have to feel sad, because this morning a man woke, had his breakfast, and was ready to crow about a decision, and then it crumbled around him. Just like Sandra Fluke, standing before Congress, brave and strong, she represented an ideal that he could never attain, never dream of holding. Such dashed hopes, they bitter a man. They bitter his world. This morning, Rush awoke, and thought to himself, "today will be a sweet, sweet, sweet victory, and I will claim happiness from the sorrow of those who I can't ever please nor share in joy. Today, I will stick it to those bastards who laugh at my gut, laugh at my bile, who I only wanted to hold with tenderness, and now they will feel my wrath..."

And it wasn't to be. Like all those women in college, who spurned him, the Supreme Court has done the same, denied him his rage, the only sup that he has left, besides sweet, sweet sweet Oxy, and the ravages of that are evident, and you have to feel sorry for a man who has been thwarted like this. It's reliving those dark moments in the black, rocking with a desire that he could not even name, let alone act upon. Each strong face that raised up, was a face he could spit on, spit on first before they could turn in disgust. Rejection on HIS terms. Power taken from the droves who he would have nurtured had they only not looked upon him with disgust. Disgust for what he wrapped himself in to protect him from rejection, from hurt, from the pain of never trying, from the pain of knowing that he had nothing to offer, that in his heart of hearts, he knew he was unworthy, but the desire, the want, the need was there. Now covered. In shame, in drugs, in trips to Kai-seng destinations, where those strong womens' faces will never trouble him, save from behind the bar, save from knock at the door to gather his towels, and collect the huddled mass that was already paid for and could return to the favela. He rose today, looking to assuage that hurt, and now thwarted, he has only rage, where he thought to feed the empty place he knows he's made in his own heart...

Let's take a moment of silence for poor Rush and his wizened up, crottled up, damaged damaged damaged soul, and pity that he's done this to his own damn self...

Count me as one who was floored when i found out the decision. I am definitely one who tends to go more liberal on most things...and I don't consider myself thrilled with HRC as it stands - although I'm thrilled that we started on SOME path to get our healthcare system on a path that doesn't royally suck.

But oh, dear GOD...the unintended comedy of the conservative outrage is like a circus, wrapped in a carnival, covered with a 'Louie' Marathon, and sprinkled with a free week in Vegas! They woke up this morning, thinking that Unicorns of Freedom would fly in at midmorning, draped in American Flags and simultaneously pissing all over 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. Instead, they were smacked over the head with the reality that all their rhetoric and fact-rape got slammed down like a dominican boy during a Rush three week vacation.

And now, their party's nominee has gotten painted into a corner. he can't slam Obamacare, because he passed the same thing. And if he supports it, then he agrees that, despite being fought on EVERYTHING, he has to admit that his party couldn't even stop Obama, and he managed to pass Healthcare Reform, and that the GOP is a miserable failure at stopping this guy.

Watching this incarnation of the GOP implode almost deserves it's own set of commemorative plates.

The similarities really are quite striking.

Ever notice how truly awful human beings ultimately end up with an appearance that reflects their inner toxicity? Limbaugh couldn't possibly represent the visual archetype of 'repulsive conservative' any more if he tried.

It's like all of that hatred and bile slowly rots them from the inside.

I can't blame the right wing noise machine for being confused. They were so damn sure it would get overturned, or at least somewhat, that I honestly don't think they prepared for the possibility that it would be upheld. They had to re-write a whole day's news in half an hour. All of the guys who jumped the gun and then had to walk it back are probably even more angry and unhinged because they look stupider than they usually do.

Have any stories you would like to share with the class?

I don't have anything too specific... I was fortunate in that way...

Mostly they're just massive coonts. Savage is a legit crazy person with a serious mental illness. He's your best buddy one minute, and a raving lunatic the next. I sincerely believe he has a serious case of schizophrenia. He decries any bad press about him as a conspiracy... there's more, but it's mostly uninteresting. He's a hard person to get along with, but profitable because he appeals to the good ol' boys looking to return to that imagined day.

Ingraham is a true believer who has bought into her own press (always a dangerous thing for celebs to do) and she believes she's better on the radio than she actually is. She's not half bad on TV to be honest, but as a radio host, she's a disaster. She has no idea what she wants and contradicts herself within minutes. She'd want one thing, then yell at the producers who would give it to her. She also has a massive inferiority complex about Rush.

One of my favorite stories from my time is how one of the board ops took a series of her rants from off the air (they record everything, on and off air audio) and matched it up to Christmas music... I wish I had the file, but it was one of the funniest/greatest things I'd ever heard. Total cocktease for you guys without having the audio I know, but... it was awesome.

But hey, maybe I just grew up and noticed what he'd always been doing. I don't think so... I think he was sincere once, but that was long ago.

I used to work in radio - specifically in AM radio doing the behind the scenes work with high profile AM talents like Laura Ingraham, Michael Savage et al.

They are true believers. I guarantee you that. They definitely believe the shiat that spews out of their mouth. To the point where after I left, I began to believe that their brand of conservatism is a form of undiagnosed mental illness.

Victimhood, the pyschology of us vs them, an imagined American way of life that never really existed, finding fault with everything liberals do with the reasoning they must be wrong because they're liberals and against their "team" or ideology... it's all very real to them... I don't know how they manage to separate reality with their world, but it is certainly a strange world they inhabit.

I got out as quick as I could and never looked back.

Yet, despite being a true believer, Ingraham let Olbermann tag her like he was in the wildlife service.

At a family gathering my proto-teabagger uncle mentioned that if Obama got elected he was going to move to Costa Rica. At the time I just sort of shrugged and figured he had seen a nice travelogue on it or something, as he had never been out of the country and I couldn't think of any reason that would be a teabagger paradise given that it's quite socialistic.

Then I heard Rush Limbaugh's fondness for the place and it alllllll came together.

I tweaked him about it a few months back by asking him if he was still considering moving.... And gee, why Costa Rica anyway?

He changed the subject as soon as he figured out I knew the only reason he was thinking of it was because he listened to too much AM radio.

And valor, god if the right wing could drop that stupid word I would trade them a hundred obamacares. Ever since that ridiculous movie came out, they can't say one sentence without trying to shoehorn the word valor into it. I hate that they left open the possibility of rewriting the law to be constitutional, so some idiot like Rand Paul can introduce a dumbass law like the Aborted Baby Persons of Valor and Heroes of Valor Protection Act. The federal government needs to police people dressing up in halloween costumes because small government, states rights, and the jesus. And then we can throw the tea party in jail for impersonating revolutionary war veterans.

Kittypie070: I will never feel sorry for that bloviating fat man.

Not for a micro instant.

Compassion is a gift that you give to yourself, anger is taking a hot stone to throw at others, only to burn your own hand. Extension of compassion is an exercise in love not for yourself, but to overcome anger and distrust. He is just like any other man, just soured and bittered, and rather than learn, he is trapped in his own cycles of rage, envy, and desperate to shed any blame for his own actions, and that is the drugs, that is the real source of the anger and "ego." An attempt to convince others that he is what he isn't, and deep down, he knows that he's not, and that is why clings to the anger of envy, the rage that is his desires thwarted.

I was only about a third facetious with my previous. Rush's marketable rage comes from being thwarted, and the addiction cycle comes from fully realizing it, and unable to do any better, because deep down, he knows he's not worth any better. He'll wallow in the outward signs, he'll rub folks' noses in his luck, but that doesn't mend his damage. Heck, at this point, those wounds are so familiar, that he covers them up not to heal, but to keep them open and weeping, because if they did heal, he doesn't know what he'd have left.

And yeah, that is really sad when a human hurts that much.
