SkunkWerks: This Exodus to Canada is not a repeat from the Dubya Administration.

I managed to spend almost the entire second half of the Dubya Administration in Ireland, so I'm getting a kick, yadda yadda yadda.

jigger: How's that working in Massachusetts?

really well? my HC is quite affordable, gives me broad coverage and allows me access to some of the best doctors, facilities and treatments in the history of the entire world. I also don't have to worry about long lines at the emergency room if i have an issue because poor people don't have to get all of their medical care through them, which is win/win for everybody.

on topic here, most of those twits (tweets?) look like they're just trying to be funny.

KiltedBastich: This right here is exactly why so many of us here in the Great White North think Americans are crazy. Sure, some of those people are joking - but some of them aren't, and that made me laugh so hard I was crying.

Me too.

How's that working in Massachusetts?

Jake Havechek: The teabaggers have one brain between them all.

Nah. They HAD one brain until one of them decided to deep-fry it in lard and eat it for lunch.

further proof americans dont know a thing about canada

universal healthcare
barely any religion in politics
much more unbelievers, or apathetic people regarding religion
gay marriage
no legal restriction on abortion
safe injection centre and likely centres
8 million french people
likely legalization of prostitution and assisted suicide within a year

its a right wingers nightmare

Lorelle: Canadians are too smart to allow stupid Teabaggers to become citizens. These fools will be happier in Mexico, which is far more conservative when it comes to social issues.

Canada elected a Teabagger named Harper who wants to monitor every email and get rid of every environmental regulation. I wouldn't call that smart.

LouDobbsAwaaaay: Moving to Canada isn't all that easy. You basically need to have family there and/or a job already lined up, or have valuable education or technical skills. They aren't going to roll out the red carpet for you just because you're an American.

Would that mean if they moved to Canada they would be.... there illegally? You Canadians should have a rally or something against this atrocity.

They need to secure the border. An electrified fence, a wall, and a moat with guard towers and machine gun nests should do the trick.

However, for the purposes of my joke, a redneck would only surrender a Coors if moonshine was available.

It's win/win. They win because they will get good healthcare. We win because the average intelligence will go way up.

Hopefully they will all get picked as illegal aliens, held for a few months then deported back to the US.

Sure, the small-town feel of Winnipeg might be nice if you could survive the walk from your door to the car/bus stop at 23 below in October.

// also, you sure you wanna trade Coors & Miller for Labatt?

Coors, Miller, Labatt and Molson are all owned by a European conglomarate. If you want real Canadian beer is is Moosehead and it sucks.

Unibroue's Fin du Monde and Maudite are excellent, and Sleeman's Honey Brown Lager is nice. But I'm pretty sure that they were bought by Sapporo, so I guess your point stands.

The ironic thing is that they are correct despite their ignorance. The Conservative Party of Canada has schemed and duped it's way to a majority government here, all while taking notes from it's Republican neighbours and being very successful at reversing and halting much of the progress Canada is ostensibly famous for in those areas.

Canada's own right wing has been undermining, sabotaging and cutting public healthcare every chance they get for decades now. The ruling Cons are also no where near open to legalizing marijuana or any other recreational drugs despite public and other political support for it. And the former Liberal government's Civil Marriage Act legalizing same-sex marriage nationally was obviously immediately challenged by the Cons, though the 123 Con votes to try to ruin it failed, and, while they have put the issue on the back burner, they are not beyond reopening the issue in the future as evidenced by their later back-door attempt to undermine equal spousal rights for same sex couples through the supreme court.

Obamacare? That's some sort of plan where people who can't afford the outrageous premiums for private healthcare can actually see a doctor, right? Sounds awful to me.

And we don't have free healthcare in Canada. Every province is different.

For example, this year, when I did my taxes, I had to pay my Ontario Health Insurance Plan premium. It came to $450.00. For the YEAR.

jigger: So between 2006 and 2011 your insurance premiums didn't shoot through the roof like everyone else's in MA?

no, they are exactly the same now as they were when i moved here in 2007. only difference is i upgraded to a more inclusive plan which charges me more in 2011 after i decided i was starting to get older and wanted better access to specialists covered, but that was my choice. That said, i get my coverage through my employer, who are very large and have a lot of negotiating power with the insurance companies. I'm not sure i would have been as lucky if i was with a smaller company.

It's okay. Ever since those people who moved to Canada after Bush's reelection came back in early 2009, we've been facing a population crisis that desperately needed to be addressed.

This will play a key role in relieving the pressure.

Have you ever been to a TEA rally? That really is how they talk. This being the internet, yeah, maybe it's just Poe's Law. But I assure you, people like this exist. It's what happens when 3 hours of Limbaugh is your sole source of information for 15 years.

You should meet my grandma, who thinks the Germans cheered Obama during his European tour because they're still secretly Nazi and Obama reminds them of HItler. No, I'm not kidding. I'm assuming Rush or one of his callers told her that, because it's pretty farking difficult to be that stupid on your own.

She has no problem gleefully accepting her very sizable government assistance, though. But since she doesn't receive food stamps, they're socialist. Especially when a black lady needs them.

Actually Steam Whistle blows the doors off Sleeman's and Keith's. In Calgary I would stick to Big Rock Brewery products, but in Ontario it's hard to get fresh product. Last time I ordered Grasshopper at The Beer Store the case was dusty.

Oh, and let's not leave out Maudite and Fin de Monde.

To be fair, it IS getting to be about that time in the century that Germany tries to take over the world again...

That's nothing! I'm moving to Mexico to get away from all these gangs in America!

If they don't like the laws in this country, they should move to Mexico, set up their own colony, and then come running back if there's a revolution down there. It worked for Mitt's family.

If any of them are watching CNN (which I now consider a comedy channel) they'll be rethinking their plan to flee to Canada. Some nitwit they just interviewed was just saying that our single payer healthcare doesn't cover doctors' costs, so when you make an appointment the doctors demand $1500-$2000 cash up front.

csb time- i had a friend who maintains that molson golden is made by filtering it through asbestos and refuses point blank to drink it or sit next to anyone drinking it. i have no clue where he came upon this idea but it has been an unshakeable part of him for at last 15 years now.

I don't think it's necessary for Canada to spend on military as they can rely on the U.S. to be paranoid enough to consider an attach on Canada to be an attack on us. You know who Americans are, probably think the entirety of North America is theirs.

It's not easy to legally emmigrate to Canada. How many of these people will end up as illegal aliens?
