GhostFish: Years later, and the GOP is still getting farked over by Bush's actions.
LordJiro: retarded: Good Lord, the freepers are having aneurysms:"John Robert's poison legacy: Mexican takeover of America, and Socialist dictatorship. IMPEACH this traitorous bastard."Oh lord, I would love love LOVE to see the Republicans impeach Roberts. Talk about not thinking their cunning plan all the way through.
The_Sponge: Anti_illuminati: But he didn't raise my taxes.True, but his broad promise was made to EVERYONE making under $250K.
IXI Jim IXI: The_Sponge: True, but his broad promise was made to EVERYONE making under $250K.so if you're a broad making under $250k, WATCH OUT!
ignatius_crumbcake: GhostFish: Years later, and the GOP is still getting farked over by Bush's actions. The comments are Freeperville are lambasting him for appointing Roberts. I never thought it would happen, but the left and the right have come together on this glorious day and agreed that George W. Bush was a human shiatstain devoid of any redeeming value.
ha-ha-guy: someonelse: The Romney campaign has vastly overestimated the number of Americans who consider having health care insurance to be an attack on their freedom. They're about to find this out.Wasn't Romneycare one the more popular pieces of Romney's legacy in Mass? Now they're basically attacking it on a national scale. All that seems to do is make the red states more red, and the swings go "Oh fark no".
The_Sponge: Gwendolyn: I never saw the difference between the federal government saying I must have health care and Maryland requiring me to have car insurance. I'm sure it is in some way but we get told we have to do things all the time. Here's the difference:You don't have to drive a car.
Aikidogamer: farkerofDOOM: Seriously, what's the big deal? Don't want insurance? Pay the tax! You are mandated to have homeowners/car/flood insurance, so what's wrong with health insurance? You can choose not to own a home, you can choose not to own a car, but you cannot choose not to have health. This argument is a non sequitur.
Weaver95: Limbaugh: ruling is big, still reading, spiked the football, spiking football, amount of power is payback time arizona pay back time. this is bad for obama, opportunity for the GOP, taxes taxes world history tax, purely political, made to order, GOP is doing well, this isn't a loss, this isn't bad for us, this is bad for Obama, this is really bad for Obama, taxes taxes, destruction of the private sector, try to look for positives, confusing ruling.
Sampsonhammer: So now the government can make me buy an electric car because if I don't there is a $30,000 tax for not doing so?
stvdallas: DarnoKonrad: stvdallas: You know who wins with this decision?Illegal aliens who don't pay taxes.takin' yer jerbI have a job...and have had health insurance for years because I have a job. No, I'm talking about all the illegal aliens who don't pay taxes. How are we going to "tax" them to pay for their health insurance?Essentially, they will be treated the way we currently treat people without health insurance. Have those that pay health insurance have their rates raised to pay for those that don't pay for health insurance (illegal aliens who don't pay taxes). Of course, we're already paying for that now...so it's no big deal, right? Then again, maybe that will be the impetus to kick illegal aliens out and go after employers that hire them (something we should be doing anyways).
Velveeta_Poindexter: Does Kennedy just flip a coin these days?
badLogic: "The Supreme Court isn't the boss of what's constitutional."-Rand PaulI think someone needs to re-read the Constitution.
Nina_Hartley's_Ass: "Somebody call for a Constitutional Scholar?"[writingjunkie.net image 600x280]
Tat'dGreaser: I apparently don't know everything about this whole deal. I hear some people talk about how health care is now guaranteed for everyone, then I hear you are now forced to purchase health care. Which one is it?
sweetmelissa31: Are you outing yourself as one of the people whose ass we have to cover when you have an accident and expect treatment but didn't buy insurance?
tortilla burger: (reposted from Osama bin Laden thread, not mine)I'd be very afraid if I were Michelle Obama's vagina right now.
Lost Thought 00: I'm sure it won't be long until at least one governor of a southern state declares their intention to secede from the union.
you need help: bhcompy: you need help: I will never go to the doctor in my lifetime, so this is nothing but butthurt for me.But if you chose to skip health coverage, it would be more than butthurt. I've opted out of healthcare previously simply because my company will pay me a special bonus for opting out, because they still save money after the bonus. Nothing has changed for them, but now I cannot do that anymore.I dropped health coverage several years ago and planned to never pay for it again in my life. It sounds like my best option come 2014 is to make sure that I owe taxes at the end of the year so they can't take anything from me.
Klippoklondike: I think the problem with health care costs should be solved by looking at the HEALTH CARE COSTS
rufus-t-firefly: And, if insurance companies complain that they can't be profitable, they can shut themselves down and we can pass single payer.
Weaver95: Limbaugh: freedom of choice got death paneled. SCOTUS, regime did not anticipate that states cannot be stripped of federal money if they opt out of medicade expansion. mandates, pushes states around, states are in terrible shape, pensions, no money, no money. it won't work. the poor! the poor. no money. states don't have to participate. implied threat, ACA is free health care, free health care is bad.
unlikely: SuperNinjaToad: unlikely: This is a surprise. I honestly expected the 6-3 conservative court to rule more in favor of "fark the poors because they smell"what do you think this ruling is then when you really apply in IRL scenerios? it is exactly that... fark the poor and 'tax' them more for not having health insurance.Unless that's what the whole "income test" part is about. I am not sure but I think it meant that if you can't afford it, you're subsidized.I must be mistaken though since everyone says this is just fining the poor.
you are a puppet: Sampsonhammer: So now the government can make me buy an electric car because if I don't there is a $30,000 tax for not doing so?Yes, you're going to marry a carrot.
someonelse: CNN reporter to Romney spokesman: What specifically is your health care alternative?Romney spokesman: We don't need specifics right now.
Lando Lincoln: The_Sponge: Gwendolyn: I never saw the difference between the federal government saying I must have health care and Maryland requiring me to have car insurance. I'm sure it is in some way but we get told we have to do things all the time. Here's the difference:You don't have to drive a car. Some of us can't afford a limo service.
Buffalo77: Can someone explain the benefits of single payer to me.
