Come on, everyone's heard of the Four Boxes of the Apocalypse.

The dreaded Four Boxalypse?

Whatever you want. I'll let you decide.

Here's how I see it playing out: Company realizes it's cheaper to pay a $2000 fine than provide insurance, drops insurance coverage. Employee realizes it's cheaper to pay the tax than buy insurance, goes without coverage. Huge shift in uninsured to the working class.

If you don't have health insurance and go to a hospital, we already pay for your health care.

It amazes me that so many of you think this is a great thing. It's just the government getting its foot in the door to have even greater power.

1. Government makes everyone have health care, and starts to pay for many more people's health care.
2. Government realizes this actually will increase the cost of health care. Needs to reign in costs.
3. Government tells people "We pay for your health care, so we can dictate your health".
4. Government bans Cheetos, DQ Blizzards, and King Size Candy Bars.

// this has already started with the large soda bans.
// so much for freedom of choice.

Best thing that could happen for the Romney campaign.

Pretty shocked. Dubya (or whoever in Dubya's admin picked Roberts) must be approaching the record for longest cussin' streak.

Glad that it's now everyone's responsibility to deal with their health before it's an issue rather than after. Annoyed that it's still all being funneled through private insurers and that employers are having to foot a lot of the bill, but baby steps I guess.

That makes a lot of sense.

Before: company can drop insurance coverage with no penalty; elects to keep providing coverage.
After: company can drop insurance coverage with $2000 per employee penalty; elects to drop coverage.

Herp. Derp.

And I thought it was Kennedy who was the most powerful person in the country. There was talk that he might sustain, but I really did not think it was likely. If you told me an hour ago that one side would completely win and that Kennedy would vote to strike it down, I would have concluded that ObamaCare was dead.

I do like it when justices don't split the way they are "supposed to." It means that at least some of them take their jobs seriously. When a liberal might vote conservative and a conservative might vote liberal, it can be a good sign that humanity is not condemned to be a race of partisan hacks.

Conservatives should actually be thankful. Because if the act was struck down, it would probably meant that in 8 to 12 years that a big push for single payer would had a big push that might have actually passed. ObamaCare actually keep business in the healthcare business, single payer would actually be the socialism that the conservatives fear. The worst thing would have been if the mandate had been struck down but no pre-existing conditions still stayed law because that really would have shot healthcare cost to the point that today's prices would have seen cheap as sick people rushed to get policies and healthy people gambled that they would not get sick. I think the Democrats would been able to make a good case to voters in that situation.

/nothing like not updating the headline on their front page for at least half an hour after the decision has been made

As opposed to CNN who updated with the wrong verdict?

No one was prepared for this ruling because it is blatantly obvious that the law was unConstitutional.

The widespread misreporting almost makes me wonder if something crazy went down behind the scenes, a changed vote at the last minute or something.

nah. I think CNN just jumped the gun is all.
