Ah, video cameras + the internet.

Too bad political hypocrisy is basically dead now, voters don't care.

Annnnd that was the last time Boehner ever lead Republicans anywhere.

I like the cut of your jib, sir.

Maybe I'm being hopelessly idealistic, but I'd hope the Democrats wouldn't stop to that level. No one anywhere should ever emulate what the Republicans do these days.

So it was bad then, it's all good now? Subby's spine must look like a spring by now.

That's a bit of a projection there, ace. I think the point is, you look a little two-faced going after a guy for not cooperating with congress when your party did it in the past. The questions of right / wrong or good / bad was not raised, but thanks for playing.

Same here.

I'd rather see them stand during the whole thing and loudly vote no. They'd still get a visual and look less childish.

Or do they just push buttons now?

Why would the Speaker have control over C-Span's cameras? I know few people watch C-Span but there needs to be a record of what these jackwagons do. I know this is an idealistic misunderstanding of the way things work but, they are our employees, not our overlords.

C-Span does not own the cameras. The cameras are the property of Congress. C-Span just takes the feed Congress provides to them and broadcasts it.

This isn't an either or situation. I never knew about Wide Receiver, but but Bush did a lot of stupid shiat I don't agree with. So when you come down on the mishandling of F&F, they hypocrisy and projection will be over.

I guess since you weren't critical of Wide Receiver back then, but it wasn't because you had no idea it was happening, I can assume you were for it.

He goes on a big tirade about how what they're doing doesn't help defend America from terrorists that want to kill us...]
You know what else doesn't help defend us from terrorists?
Denying/granting birth control.
Education bills.
Paying Congressional members and their staffs.
Tax cuts to wealthy.
Outlawing/legalizing gay marriage.

I could go on with a bunch of arbitrary rhetoric, but since when is the defense of the U.S. from terrorists the U.S. House of Reps' sole and only responsibility?
Cus doing anything that would promote more middle class jobs, increasing minimum wage until it's a livable wage, and increasing the quality of life doesn't do anything to defend us from terrorists.

You know what would defend us from terrorists? Tanking this nation so bad that the terrorists pity us, and no longer have anything to prove by killing us.
Cus that would explain so much.

No, but it makes it hard to take the GOP's grandstanding seriously, just like their born-again fiscal "conservatism" after eight straight years of "Reagan proved that deficits don't matter".

I think his point is that both sides are bad, but the democrats are bad now.

Actually, I'm not sure what his point is, that's my point. It's stupid to pull a stunt in order to highlight a stunt. The democrats should simply stand up during their alloted time slot to speak and say "this is stupid theater, and I oppose this", vote when it comes up, and move on.

Sweden here: I love following the political drama in the USA. It's one part "Lord of the flies", one part P.T. Barnum and a huge portion of drama with a side dish of actual decision making. Reminds me of the time when Vladimir Zhirinovsky was part of the political process in Russia.

And the fact that your reaction at the time was apparently "that's bullshiat", subby, should probably, y'know, but you on the side that supports the contempt charge against Mr. Holder this time unless you're equally hypocritical.

Just pointing that out there.

Eh, representative democracy involves a lot of yelling at each other. We tend to just deal with it. While I'll give you that the Sainte-Lague variant method you guys use for elections makes them quieter, given that it also hands a lot of your electoral power to unelected party leadership I think most Americans would call it "a little too quiet".

Basically, that's great that it works for you but you have to admit our system fits better with the US's higher cultural priorities on government transparency and allowing individual reps to stand against their own party if necessary. Makes for, as you say, extra drama, but at least we, y'know, can see most of our corruption.

Between CNN's epic Dewey beats Truman-esque farkup this morning and this bit of footage the inevitable pieces that will be done by the TDS and TCR staff on the SCOTUS ruling and the Holder thing pretty much write themselves.

Did Nancy Pelosi lead the Democrats off the House floor during the contempt vote? (This is a real question. I honestly do not know.)

Not what I meant, but: Texas Democrats, Wisconsin Democrats. Although they all left their respective states in protest.

I think it may be from some form of dyslexia, but every time I see "Pelosi" I think "Pepsi."

Pelosi-Cola makes me burp.
