(The Atlantic Wire)   So how potentially earth-shaking is today's contempt of Congress vote against the AG? let's put it this way: Holder spent last night eating burgers on the White House lawn with the same people who are going to hold that vote   (theatlanticwire.com) divider line 31

I was disappointed by everything after "burgers on the White House lawn". I really wanted to see a picture of Holder on the ground chowing down on a burger Hasselhoff style.

Oh this is interesting.

None of this has anything to do with "Constitutional principles", and everything to do with jurisdictional fence-pissing and political dumbshow.

The President's opening remarks at the barbecue didn't offer anything juicy, unfortunately. There are no veiled shots at Mitt, no allusions to the contempt vote, or signs of nervousness over the impending SCOTUS decision.

Aw, did 'no drama' Obama not offer up lazy reporters fodder for their narrative? Dang!

He thank everyone for coming, offered to kiss people while posing for pictures, unless they're unshaven. He doesn't like that.

[ilol'd]

/Also: 'He thank'?

Yeah. My first thought: "Huh. Did SCOTUS just make it single-payer anyway?"

Second thought: I have to admit. That's one way to get things done while trying to work around a do-nothing Congress.

/wonders how many people have the E-trade baby's :O face right now.

Remember when the House impeached Clinton?

I know that is Warren Burger, but when I was scrolling past, I thought, "What the hell does Gore Vidal have to do with the Fast & Furious operation?"

If they wanted to hold a vote on everyone who's held Congress in comtempt for the past couple of years, the line would start in DC and go through damn near every home in the U.S.

/ Especially the House members who seem to vote against bills just out of spite.

This is a bunch of shiat.

Cheney and the other war criminals in the Bush Admin. blew off any opposition to Executive Privilege to keep documents unreleased and were looked at like heroes. Suddenly the douchebags in the GOP are outraged.

Typical.

It's obvious that the vote was set for today just in case PPACA was upheld.

Bad theatre at that. They scheduled opening night opposite the PPACA ruling. Might as well scheduled the first episode of an ER remake at the same time as the House series finale.

Amusing theatre.

Granted, I can see the F&F sting being a colossal fark up.

Illegal? Nah. The bush administration has shown us that screwing the pooch is not against the law.

The question is if it will still be not-illegal when [insert future Republican administration here] commits a massive farkup of its own. Because that's what they'll want to hear and I'm pretty sure you lot won't stand for it at that time.

Guns that we manufacture are used to kill Americans all the time. This is just a political manuever and manufactured outrage over what was basically a sting op that failed. Anyone who is remotely familiar with it knows that it's a witchhunt.

That's funny.

I know people who've been following this for over a year, watching the rulings first hand, reading the reports ect... They don't think it's a witch hunt.

They also don't think it's okay to give guns to murderous cartels when there's no possible way of tracking them down later. (There were no provisions in F&F to "track" those guns. Zip. Zero. Nadda.)

So no, it wasn't a sting.

FTA: "During the inception and the participation through the death of Brian Terry, we have no evidence nor do we currently have strong suspicion" that Holder knew of the gun-walking, Issa testified to the House Rules committee.

Well then, fark off.

There are people who have been analyzing footage of the moon landing for decades, constructing elaborate reasoning for why and how it was faked... That doesn't make it farking so.

Hey, so because I don't like the guy who just moved in next to me, I'm going to accuse him or making drugs in his apartment. I have no evidence, and it's been proven that he's actually done nothing wrong, but I'm going to go ahead and press charges anyway because I just don't like the guy and my friends agree.
