Next up. Manditory dental insurance.

At this point, I fully expect them to rule that Palin is automatically President and that Obama has to drive the Sweet Pickles bus.

I will be very surprised if the mandate is upheld.

They will ensure that the average joe gets as much of the shaft as possible, sans lube.

They don't care.

I don't think there will be, but if there is one I'd think Sotomayor.

It is constitutional but the court is dominated by partisan hacks. If they strike this down they better include a Bush v. Gore-style NOT A PRECEDENT warning label.

So the socialist bailout was okay, but socialist healthcare is a problem?

From a Canadian that has universal healthcare, it's awesome.

I realize this is an important ruling but it's been hyped so much on the 24/7 news channels that I'm getting to the point I don't care any more. Just tell me what the damned decision is, please.

What's worse, once the ruling is announced the news is going to be wall-to-wall analyses of the ruling.

Worse than that, most of the analyses will be on who won - Obama or congress. How about having some of the media annointed experts debating whether or not the ruling for good for the country?

2012-06-28 09:19:11 AM
So... what about the individual mandate in Massachusetts? Does Romneycare get junked too?

2012-06-28 09:19:15 AM
I just want to be able to say I remember exactly where I was when the ruling was handed down.

While I would never presume to anticipate what he says and does, because to me his thinking is muddled as all hell, I have a hard time seeing Kennedy vote for a full repeal.

I feel comfortable knowing that Republicans will finally now be able to enact their own solution to the HealthCare issues of our time.

Doubt it. Depends on the basis for the ruling, but this seems incredibly unlikely.

I think it goes 6-3 upholding the mandate with Scalia, Alito and Thomas the dissenters

2012-06-28 09:20:29 AM
Prediction: upheld, as they interpret the "mandate" as a tax hike combined with a tax break for having health insurance

Thanks to George W. Bush, it'll be another horrible 5-4 decision where the people get shat upon. Again.

6-3 or 7-2 upheld. Roberts has said before (iirc) that he doesn't like 5-4 decisions on important cases

As evidenced by the 5-4, 5-4 and 5-3 rulings handed down on Monday?
