I wanted to shiat-talk my Cubs-fan friend, but I figured that losing the first two games of the series sort of put a limit on that.

The best part is that Ike'shiatting now. Finally broke the Mendoza line.

Subby forgot the most important detail of the story-

against the Cubs. At Wrigley. With 15 scored by the 6th inning.

So glad I went to Rizzo's first game and not his second.

Hot summer day at Wrigley...not suprised somebody scored 17 runs. Not surprised it wasn't the Cubs. When it gets hot and the wind blows out in that stadium, it must feel like a little league park to some of those guys.

So that's what happened to Jeff Samardzija.

Also, Daniel Murphy hit two homers in successive at-bats.

352 ABs after his last one.

Whoa. I had really misunderstood what 'breaking the Mendoza line' meant.

That's probably a good thing for him psychologically, but he really turned it around a few weeks ago. In the month of June he's batting .267 (I'll take it), with an on-base of .382, and he has 20 RBI and a 900+ OPS. So basically he's been one of the top 10-20 overall hitters over the last month, depending on how you look at it.

/totally knew those stats off the top of my head

I was downtown yesterday for a meeting, and then walked around the loop for a bit. I couldn't believe how many hotties were walking around in Cubs gear. So at least they have that going for them, which is nice.

/the other half... not so much.

I've loved David Wright since he was brought up, good to see him having such a solid year after the past few.

And I find it damn near impossible to not sing Camptown Races when ever Duda comes up to bat.

Fair enough. I suspect I had the OPS stats filtered to 1B only, or something like that. I'm still perfectly happy with that, considering how he was doing earlier in the year.

Given that it was the Mets, my inclination would have been to guess "Month". I'm surprised they didn't find a way to lose that game.

ESPN's profile page on David Wright says while he'shiatting a ton this year, you might be worried in a fantasy league because he's only on pace for 19 homers.

It takes a whole lotta doubles to give you a 1.000+ OPS without a ton of homers, so I'm pretty happy I drafted him.
