you guessed right. As a Canadian I like the idea of the Keystone pipeline going across the US because the alternative is that it will go across or pristine Pacific coast and increase the chances of tanker spills on the coast in addition to pipeline spills.

As an American, you would have to be an idiot to support the pipeline. There is no risk of oil leaks, there is an absolute guarantee of frequent leaks. They even know roughly how many by year you will have. Having said that, please build it because we would like the additional revenue even though our economy is pretty good.

We call them republicans.

First you need to pick a path. I know this is hard since some republican governors are going "not in my backyard" and you want this to look like Obama is blocking you to be a troll.

Second you need to put in all the impact studies in along with your disaster plans, and this takes time and money. since this is oil over an aquifer only a group of immoral asshats will try to get around it. since one screw up could cripple the farming in that area.

Third, lots and lots of eminent domain court cases. Well the ones you will need to force because the land owners wont sell.
