That was one of my favorite stories as a kid, along with the Pokey Little Puppy.

Then I found her real picture....yeah, it's not that far off.

//of course Little Black Sambo was acceptable when I was a kid too

I love how the 2000s are just becoming another version of the 1950s....

Just like the 1980s.

Someone clearly deserves a slap here.

Ah, the small government lover. I honestly can't remember the last time I saw or met someone who claimed to be a small government supporter that couldn't be easily proven to be a hypocrite.

Councilwoman: "In our obscenity ordinance, it is a crime to be nude."

I know she's talking about being nekkid in public, but that quote made me laugh nevertheless.

I saw a yoot with saggy pants so low it was right at ball level and he was holding his pants up with one hand...AND HE HAD A BELT ON.

I can't believe any person would actually care this much. Half the world is in upheaval right now and this biatch cares about some people who have saggy pants. I can't even fathom what it's like to have that little going on in my life that I not only take the time to complain, but to protest and complain multiple times.

If it didn't effect me so badly, I kinda would like to see a United States taken down a peg or two. Just so some people could get a healthy dose of reality.

2012-06-27 09:50:49 PM
If they only knew the real reason sagging was created, they wouldn't sag any more, unless they were looking to score.

Does this mean we can organize a council of teenage boys with saggy pants to outlaw contraception, bralessness, and slacks for nosy suburban women?

I see it all the time...I'm torn between shoving their trousers to the ground with my foot or stealing their wallet because their hands are full.

The United States is down a peg or two. It just encouraged them to let slip their grip on reality even further.

Morality laws are always wrong 100% of the time. If you can't come up with a rule that is logical and doesn't necessitate falling back on the general "to keep our morals" then it's wrong. Period.

Cloth is cloth. Why should an arbitrary title for a piece of cloth be the determining factor when deciding whether the important bits are covered?

Agreed. This isn't an issue a government should tackle anyway.

Besides, this is somewhat self selecting as far as employability, not morality.

While I agree that it's a waste of resources and police time, and idiotic to criminalise people for fashion faux pas (we're not talking exposure here) I'm sure if I wore my pants around my knees, you'd all want me arrested.

Actually, neither of those would typically be allowed under this kind of ordinance.

So... now that you know it's fair, you cool with it?

//I'm not, this kind of micro-regulation of people private habits is ridiculous. Frankly I'm more of a mind with Berkeley for once, where you won't be cited for complete nudity unless there's "lewd behavior" involved, e.g. you're shiatting on the street or harassing people or sommat. If you're offended by someone's garb for any non-practical reason that's your problem, not theirs.

//Holy shiat I just agreed with the Berkeley city council about something. I need to reconsider my life choices.

2012-06-27 10:30:39 PM
This ordinance is utterly ridiculous. If it's passed, young Negroes will be able to run from the police much easier without their low hanging trousers hindering them.

Baggy pants laws are as stupid as baggy pants. If people want to wear them let them because all creating a law will do is waste the cities money when the ACLU sues them.

2012-06-27 10:33:10 PM
The low hanging pants started as a way for gay inmates to let others know they were available.

Better idea. Make an ordnance saying "low hanging pants is solicitation for gay sex". Charge them with prostitution.
