Is there some way that we can store the heat that is going to be generated by the blogosphere tomorrow? It'll be enough to power turbines for the next couple years in the US.

I also think that Silver overestimates the ability of Republicans to make hay of it being overturned with their current lineup and underestimates President Obama's ability to capitalize on either outcome.

I'm sure with people like him around to tell us what to think about it we'll be okay.

Thanks to Scalia's recent poutrage, making the case against an activist court will be even easier.

Is he implying that the titanic thinkers who coined "FIX OLD, NO NEW" and "KEEP GOVERNMENT OUT OF MY MEDICARE" won't be able to grasp the subtle intricacies of a Supreme Court opinion? Elitisocialifacisicommunoschweppervesence, indeed!!

In fact, a fair number of Americans do not seem to think that the health care bill exists any longer. About a quarter of Americans think the bill has already been repealed, while another quarter aren't sure if it has been.

Sounds about right.

If the health care law hasn't been repealed yet, then how come Doctor visits aren't free yet? Huh? Can't answer that one, can you, smart guy! Get out of that ivory tower of yours and youd know that the healthcare law destroyed over half of America.

It is the term that 0bama's team is trying to embrace for the contentious Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.

Here is the citation.

Given that the details of "Obamacare" are lost on the general public I'd say that's a pretty safe bet.

I foresee a lot of "HAHA YOU STUPID LIBS LOST SUCK IT" behavior when it fails, the same people who will end up screwed when the protections it had would have helped them receive care, and everyone else will also get hurt too. But hey, gotta stick it to the libs.

Why do I predict it'll fail? Because overall, as Americans, we've proved we do not deserve nice things. We're going to get our just desserts for once, and we collectively will suffer and blame the people trying to help.
We screwed ourselves, and we're about to reap the consequences.

Kingly Weevil: What's Obamacare?

The nemesis of the Republican party.

If it stands, Obama wins a huge victory and a bit of immortality, since that is the name the program will have for decades to come.

If not, well, it takes some wind out of Romney's sails(I'll sign it away) and gives Obama a lot of ammo against the obstructionists in Congress, as well as "conservative" ideals in general.

//Today's GOP are reactionaries, not just conservatives, hence the quotes.

Wow. That's the most ineffective and convoluted protest sign I've ever seen. I once marched in a state's capital city against the Iraq War with a mounted poster of Guernica and I thought THAT might be too dense for some.

Called it! I said YEARS ago that the very people who called it "Obamacare" will get all butthurt that's it's called that in the future.

It's one of Obama's horcruxes. If the Republicans can destroy it they're one step closer to stopping him from killing Harry Potter.

So much optimism from the left on this. Heads you win because woohoo Obama!, and tails you win because the undecided voters who don't know what the law is or whether it's repealed already will be do outraged it'll give Obama a 5 point bump in
the polls. Good positioning.

/just hope they uphold the whole thing or overturn the whole thing. Just overturning the mandate would fark everybody.

Since almost half of Americans think it's already been repealed or aren't sure, I suspect this will be a very tough row to ho (PI) for the Cons.

Now that you mention it, I'm kinda surprised the Republican Party hasn't put our bumper stickers captioned with "Do you really want "Obamacare?" with that last word written in double font size all along a big snaky and veined black penis. I would think that would get to the heart of their concerns.

I imagine the 25% who think it has already been repealed are the same people that thought Bush was doing a great job as the country went down the shiatter. The other 25% are Fark Independents. And they all get their news from Fox.

Upholding the mandate has effects for the young and healthy who end up subsidizing the old and sick. Either way a subset gets farked. So what is your point?

I'm with you on that.

I'm actually pretty pessimistic about the outcome tomorrow, mostly because I don't want to deal with certain coworkers and family members, regardless of the outcome.

In other words: Social Security. Something we've run very effectively over the last 75 years without serious incident.

If they over-turn Obamacare, does that mean the higher insurance costs I have been paying 'because the insurance companies have to save up/build reserves for the removal of the pre-existing conditions thingy' will be refunded to me?

To be fair, roughly half of the population has an IQ below 100.

It doesn't mean the general population is too stupid for the system. It means the system is too much bullshiat for the general population.

2012-06-27 07:45:42 PM
The details of the actual health care bill seem to be lost on Justice Scalia. I'm sure the general public knows even less.
