Eh, probably for the best, honestly, watch 'em in order and tell me they aren't starting to drag more than a bit toward the end.

If season one went from "brilliant" to "eh, pretty OK, I guess" I'm not sure how much I'd have enjoyed season 2. It's not like the series had any long arcs that needed resolving or anything.

Basically, for several reasons Firefly getting canceled didn't provoke the "oh, fark you" response that B5 and Farscape getting shorted a season each did.

I'd like to ask Nathan Fillion if we can expect any more of his Firefly cast-mates to do guest shots on Castle. Adam Baldwin popped up last season. And they have had at least two other explicit Firefly references in the series.

Babylon 5 ran five seasons, which is what JMS wanted.

However, there was doubt regarding getting renewed for season 5, so JMS shot the series finale and hurried up some story arcs to finish season 4.

When they did get the renewal, that resulted in season 5 dragging because JMS intended the two arcs in season 5 to only take up half a season.

Just make it a movie franchise already.

Hell at this point I'd be happy with a series of 'official' novels.

Keywork99: Look, I liked Firefly too. But it's never coming back. No matter how much you want it to, it's not going to happen.

Seeing some fans continually hoping for a revival that is never going to happen is pretty sad.

The show was great, yes. It is also over. It's time to let it go and move on.

Dude, of course it's never coming back. The vast majority of us know this. But the origional Star Wars cast is never coming back or Star Trek the origional series or hell any of the others either. Somehow it's ok to like those canceled or defunct shows and movies, but not this one?

Aaaaaand I just re-read your post and saw the word 'some' this time. I'll just leave the above misguided and dumbass rebuttal as a warning to people who jump down others throats without reading carefully.

Sorry about that.

To everyone that has or will say "Get over it!": Stop beating the straw man, it's almost as dead as the show.

Was canceling Firefly a mistake at the time? Yes
Do we still think it was a mistake now? Yes
Do we wish it had had a longer run at the time? Yes
Do we want it to come back now? No.

Let me repeat that. As great as the show was, and as rightly pissed we were (and maybe still are) at the fact that it was canceled, we are NOT asking to have it come back NOW. At least, not in the numbers anywhere close to the number of people saying "Get over it".

tl:dr - When we talk about how awesome the show is, this is NOT a "Get over it!" moment. It would be like me saying "I love Babylon 5!" and you saying "Get over it!" It doesn't quite fit.

Summer Glau is one of those actresses that got hotter as she got older. Always thought she looked a little geeky/ungainly/awkward in the Firefly series (aside from the character), but MAN she's come into her own!

I like Firefly and Serenity.
What's to get over? People who don't like Firefly and Serenity need to get over the fact that some people do.
Go like whatever it is you like, and be sure to stop liking it as soon as it's over.

I'm getting sick and tired of people like you hating on people that dislike people that like Firefly.

To be fair, it WAS pretty nice how Castle on Halloween dressed up the cast in costumes from their last big show--including Fillion as a "Space Cowboy"

You mean like both of the other shows were on several seasons and Firefly only had 14 episodes (3 didn't air til 6 months after it was cancelled)... basically hadn't found it's audience yet?

2012-06-28 01:30:33 AM
"Firefly" is one of those things I haven't gotten around to watching yet, despite only being 14 episodes and one movie.

It's the fans. I don't want to be like those people, so I just give them a wide berth.

meat0918: Thrag: I will simply never understand how so many view a half season of an above average space western as some sort of pinnacle of science fiction. I've watched all the firefly episodes and they were good, but not enough to justify the fan obsession. I honestly believe that the legend of firefly is entirely due to it's cancellation. The fact that the subsequent episodes were never made allows people to just imagine that they would have been the greatest thing ever and work from that assumption.

Then again rabid Firefly fans make a hell of a lot more sense to me than rabid Farscape fans. That show was god awful. It amazes me that anyone out of their teens could sit through multiple episodes of that show willingly. It was teen fantasy in space, and I guess I'll take western in space over that any day.

I liked it Firefly, and the first 2 seasons of Farscape.

After that, it got bad.

//I hated the last few seasons of SG1 too.

Why would you hate the last few seasons of SG1, when they brought in people from Farscape in less than credible roles, with a new badguy that was all too easily resolved in a telefilm?

Maybe we could ask JJ Abrams to reboot it and after 45 minutes, this guy

ends up as the captain on Serenity.

LouDobbsAwaaaay: I'll go if I get the chance to punch Alan Tudyk in the balls for his role in Transformers: Dark of the Moon. What was he, a half-Dutch, half-French bodyguard/hacker/butler?

He totally made up for that with Tucker and Dale vs. Evil.
I haven't laughed so hard at a movie since a teenage girl took out hundreds of semi-zombies in a bare knuckle and knife brawl.

I had that in my Netflix queue for a while and finally decided to watch it and I was not disappointed. The ways they came up with to have those kids snuff themselves got to be hilarious.

The show (and others) would not have been canceled if Summer Glau wasn't on it.

I'm certain she has a "this show must be canceled before season 3" clause in her contract.

You mean like that giant bag of suck called Dollhouse? Yeah, they would have been around so much longer if SHE hadn't appeared on it.

She likes Sci-Fi series. They usually cost a sh*tload to produce. Anything under fantastic ratings/episode often gets cancelled.
