Holy shiat, love you farkers that rip libertarians, tea party, and states rights while espousing the fact the US is full of racist, fundamentalist, and fascist sociopaths. You harp on free speech while clamoring for hate speech laws, you fully support flag burning, however call something or someone gay and it's the indignation hour. You get sopping wet over wikileaks, and have a mental breakdown when a request is made for pertinent documents to fast and furious. What terrifies me is the righteousness of you, the I'm right and I'm so absolutely right I think everyone else should have to believe the way I do for the collective good. Obviously we're a nation of religious fascist fundamentalist, That point is driven home at every stoning for a women who doesn't cover her shins, or caning for for a blogger ripping our government. Just stop, you've got it good, you're not some kind of revolutionary, you're spoiled children outraged you don't get your way immediately on every single issue.

Fart Roll: Our government would spend billions on a heathcare system while states are closing schools an libraries. Obama should be impeached for pushing this farking shiat.

?

States waste shiat-loads of cash every year, constantly push for more states rights, and then turn around and blame the federal government for their woes. Can't blame Obama for that.

Oh and healthcare is kind of a priority and we should be spending a fark ton more on it. All those dollars should come directly from the military budget.

Superman doesn't give a shiat about a green card, he's goddamn Superman.

Clark Kent was granted US Citizenship. "You don't need no stinkin' green card"

I love the Friday debates with David Brooks on NPR, but I wouldn't even call him a closet liberal at this point. I appreciate the thought process that might push his opinion to the middle but this is just a spectacular viewpoint from someone who is expected to tow the line. Obey (individualism when you disagree not needed)..

The truth: There are not enough intelligent doctors to go around. The result of "everyone gets care" is "lets make more doctors by lowering the standards" -- our standards are already so low that a good portion of the malpractice lawsuits really are malpractice.. Press here for 'elbow hurts'. Press here for 'knee hurts'.

The Truth: States representatives are often money sucking liars and should be blamed for their losses, although, they would and should have lots more funds if we were not so in debt due to the federal governments corporate run wars. You can't blame Obama for that - he is smart to not speak the truth on this matter, it takes a very brave and strong president to stand up to the worlds most powerful secret military - they do believe they are better than him - and he would be putting his life at risk to stand up for the people of this country. Can we really ask that of him? Think I'm crazy? Then you don't believe the CIA water boards people around the world in secret prisons? Holds people against their will - a direct violation of our own constitutional believes? He is the commander-in-chief of the most horrendous evil since the inquisition. He is scared to death. The people he represents should be shouting in the streets but they are not - they are watching the TV controlled by the same group. And he talks about nonsensical healthcare bills. Wonder why?

Furthermore, the wars are for resources which might be limited - without those resources our great cities will crumble, powerless, no A/C, no heat, no cars, no trains, no food. We as a planet are overpopulated, and must reduce our populations - dying faster helps. With a population of 50m on the earth, those who are left could enjoy the luxury of coal burning for 1000 years without destroying the planet. Thus there is no need for a healthcare system, but if we go through with it, it will be stupid anyway.

Again with the straw man. See the trick to argumentation is that you're supposed to address an actual point of contention not simply assign a bunch of undesirable characteristics on an opponent. Thus thinking you've discredited them because you have falsely labeled them.

You've failed to make a cohesive point anywhere in your ramblings. I was giving you an out by suggesting you were merely drunk, which there is no shame in. However by not taking this out it leads me to believe you're sober and thus just naturally dull and boorish.

Dinjiin: I know the meaning that the original author of that statement meant, but it can also be turned upside down. We do need to relearn how to follow. We need to learn how to stand behind the right sort of leader. Many of the leaders in our corporate world are narcissists or sociopaths. Our representatives in government often aren't much better. Those sorts of people shouldn't be followed. So we as a people need to reform the way these people become leaders, as well as changing the culture and image of what it means to be a leader.

As long as Snooki can be seen as a cultural icon, that ain't never gonna change.

Well I don't know this might be what I find hypocritical, I'm sure there are no conservatives who, just for example, favor a strong military, back gay marriage, support states rights, favor legalization of marijuana, are fine with Guantanamo, but are against warrantless wiretapping. This is what kills me, "well look at those lockstep conservatives what a bunch of sheep." Nope sorry guys there's some nuance on the other side as well.

I didn't say there wasn't, you are the one that made a general blanket statement about liberals. That is what I'm arguing with you about but you don't get it. You are basically making my initial argument against your statement. At this point I must conclude you are indeed a troll. None of this changes the fact that Republicans generally are more unified (notice how I said GOP and not conservatives in both this post and the last) and lockstep.

Can't see the difference there? This is my surprised face. :>I

Hey, you know who else was a big proponent of hate speech...

you fully support flag burning, however call something or someone gay and it's the indignation hour.

Burning the flag is free speech. Hating on gays is hate speech. This isn't brain science.

/Or rocket surgery.

You get sopping wet over wikileaks, and have a mental breakdown when a request is made for pertinent documents to fast and furious.

The left have a wide array of opinions over wikileaks.

F&F, like Solyndra, is an example of a RW media inculcated fauxrage constructed pretty much for people like you.

What terrifies me is the righteousness of you, the I'm right and I'm so absolutely right I think everyone else should have to believe the way I do for the collective good.

What terrifies most people about the politicized religious right in the US is the fact that they support immoral positions like being against birth control, gay rights and a woman's right to choose and do so in the name of morality.

Obviously we're a nation of religious fascist fundamentalist, That point is driven home at every stoning for a women who doesn't cover her shins, or caning for for a blogger ripping our government.

Obviously those are the only forms of religious oppression on the planet.

*rolls eyes*

Just stop, you've got it good, you're not some kind of revolutionary, you're spoiled children outraged you don't get your way immediately on every single issue.

Stop what? Who are you talking to here? Are you saying that Brooks is right and people should be more submissive to authority and never complain or seek social justice through political change?

Here's the deal Right Wing Authoritarianism isn't a theory it's fact.

The lock step left is a myth developed by a right that loves to project it's own inadequacies onto it's opposition at every available opportunity.

Trying to find consensus among the left, in many cases, is like herding cats.

The left are more truly the big tent party and inevitably it has a wider diversity of opinion, the right are all about rigidity of opinion and fall in line time after time. Both sides see the others bent as being their biggest weakness and their own as being their biggest strength.

In a way they're both right.

/Ya know, there's a real Twilight Zone-esque aspect to late night Farking on the Politics Tab.

Our government has a secret torture policy, and applies this around the world.
Our government free's rapists and molesters and murders....

Our government would spend billions on a heathcare system while states are closing schools an libraries. Obama should be impeached for pushing this farking shiat.

Wow, I can't believe anyone would think Americans aren't obedient enough.

If anything, we're far, FAR too obedient.

People trust their government, churches, and popular opinion - three institutions that shouldn't be trusted with choosing so much as where to go for lunch, much less controlling people's lives.

Even if some of us didn't choose him, most of that lot still respect the office by choice. This means He has full command of the military and the militia. Under the right circumstance, all those guns Obama helped sell would gladly do his bidding.
That authority trickles down throughout the entire government.

The American people do alot more "questioning" than they've ever done "resisting". Which is pretty amazing when the world thinks of us as being thuggish, unruly, ignorant, and armed to the teeth.
Other nations with far more conformist populaces have created some amazingly grizzly social disasters.

What happened in China (Russia, Serbia, Cambodia, etc...) was certainly engineered by people with a defined agenda.
What's happening in the US is more about the media fumbling on its way to sell copy, and partisans being partisans.

MyEnamine: Most Americans are very authoritarian. They followed Bush into war, love football coaches, and worship white Jesus. Hierarchy is what they know and understand. Which is why having Obama as their president is such a problem. Obama's position violates their flawed social hierarchy.

Spot frikking on. I've been watching my county for over 50 years here and it's like watching a retarded baby develop.

I was all excited by the headline and then I read the article. Talk killing it. Like glory-holing at the gas station, only to see the attendant walk back in wiping his mouth.

The ruling class and their pawns aren't rich and powerful because they are superior human beings. They're rich and powerful because our society is so broken that it rewards sociopathic behavior. They deserve nothing but contempt.

David Brooks is a silly man who writes for a silly paper.

Anyone who sees him should let him know.

Fart Roll: Our government cannot balance the budget.
Our government has a secret torture policy, and applies this around the world.
Our government free's rapists and molesters and murders....
Our government honors illegals, offering them education and healthcare while our own people suffer and become more indebted (over a BILLION)
Our government would spend billions on a heathcare system while states are closing schools an libraries. Obama should be impeached for pushing this farking shiat.
Our government actually allowed the human genome to be patented!!!! WTF?!
Our government feels up old ladies and children in the airports.
Our government sells off our lands.

And yet, you're dumb enough to elect most of the people responsible for this back to their offices. Dumber yet, if you try to change it, you just elect people from the other party responsible for this. And dumbest of all, those who see that the parties responsible for it are elected time and again drop out instead of making an actual change in their voting habits, allowing the government they allowed to remain by not voting to keep doing what they're doing; a passive endorsement of it.

A healthy distrust of authority has long been ingrained into the American cultural zeitgeist. Both conservatives and liberals have run afoul of it, often at the same time, and usually with a decent understanding of why the other side runs afoul of it but a big blind spot as to why they themselves do.

Wow, in comparison, Nerdhunter is making our resident internet dentist sound cogent. That's pretty impressive.

It helps a little if you can distinguish "dominance" from "prestige"; and appearance from actuality.

The elections are completely controlled by multiple means.

The dire financial state of our country proves the ineffectiveness of our system of government.

So go ahead, vote, Vote for the party that CAN and WILL balance the budget.

No, it proves you can't lower taxes and get involved in 2 wars without paying for them

It's a failure of the 25% of society who voted for George W Bush, twice.

Every aspect of this is completely wrong...

1) Wars are VERY profitable. The profits go to the rich, while the 1% pay for them.
2) The debt started long before Bush (see #1)
3) Voting has little to do with who becomes president.
