Man, this could be trouble for the Yankees, who have a difficult rest-of-the-season coming up. Does anybody know of any way that Pettite could recover from this significantly faster than expected? Any kind of substance that Pettite could ingest to speed up his recovery? Any body?

If there's one thing Cleveland is good at, it's making sure that if we're going to take a loss, we're going to f*ck you up on the way out.

That's what I came here to say. The guy is on his way out.

As a Jays fan I say fark your rotation problems, our only remaining starter from the beginning of the season gave up 9 runs today....

He'll be back this season, beyond it I have no idea.

Bah, that injury could have happened to anybody. He didn't come out of retirement to pitch for a couple months. If he'd been pitching like crap since he returned, that would be one thing - but he's been fantastic, so I expect he'll want to come back.

I may be misremembering but I think a B12 shot should clear it right up.

As a Ray's fan I have no sympathy. We have a whole team on the DL.

I like Andy. It's too bad. Getting old, and old stuff breaks easier.

OTOH, fark the Yankees. Everybody on the Rangers staff is on the freaking DL except Yu and Matt.

2012-06-27 04:29:15 PM
is 'liner' some sort of Cory Lidle joke?

also, Newsflash? Are the Yankees so big now that we need a Newsflash every time Teixiera pulls a hammy?

2012-06-27 04:36:59 PM
Rest assured; if I pick up a pitcher in the Fark Fantasy Baseball League, he will get injured soon thereafter. See: Halladay, Roy, and Pettitte, Andy. I picked up Roy Oswalt last week, so place your over/under bets now as to when he'll be out of commission.

/damn it to hell

I imagine the admin who greenlit this was the same who thought this gem was news-worthy:

Cubs demote Randy Wells, recall Rafael Dolis

KC fan here. We could staff two rotations with number of injuries we have.

Luckily, Kuroda and Hughes have pitched well of late.

If only the Yankees had a blue chip prospect that they could trade for a good pitcher.

Aw crap. Andre Ethier is out with an oblique strain. His line against tomorrow's starter is 12/29 6 HR 10 RBI and a beastly .414/.500/1.103 triple-slash.

/I know, he's a Dodger...

Was wondering the same thing. I figured it must be an acronym, but I can't figure out what PLGCWL is supposed to mean.

Why does Pettitte get kid gloves treatment when it comes to steroids? He's as guilty as the rest of them, but seems to be a media favorite & just not in NY, either. It'll be interesting when it comes time to consdier him for the HOF, because if they vote a "good guy" 'roider in, they should vote 'em all in.

David Ortiz too.

Basically, most people don't give a shiat about steroids at all.

I would say it's more selectively applied shame (Bonds, Sosa, Palmiero etc) while others (Pettitte, Ortiz) seem to skate in the court of public/media opinion. The "good guys" 'roided up for the exact same reasons as the others & offered the same weak denials/lies when they were outed. Let's see if they get "McGwired" when their time comes for HOF consideration.

When you boil it down though, it just comes down to how likable you are. The steroids issue was one opportunity to show yourself to be a dick, but it easily could've been something else.

Personally I think they should all be shamed, but I seem to be in the vast minority.
