(Geekosystem)   Subby was too busy downloading low-res pics of your mom from usenet at the time to notice, but apparently in 1999, Swatch made an ill-advised and awesomely stupid attempt to reinvent time for the internet age   (geekosystem.com) divider line 5

WhyteRaven74: KrispyKritter: i'm surprised swatch is still in business.

It's one of the biggest watch companies in the world.

True.
In fact, most of the swiss made luxury watchmakers use/buy swatch movements as core components in their watches. All these watchmakers do is add some extra features and assemble the watches in their own made watch cases.
ETA is the movement manufacturer (part of the swatch group).

Years ago I had been doing PHP programming for a while, and was working at a place where I only had access to a web server running classic ASP. Since VBScript had about as many built-in functions in the whole language as PHP did just for arrays, I started making ASP versions of some native PHP functions to make coding easier.

One of them was date(), which supports about 40 different tokens for representing aspects of dates and times. So I'm going through the list, two-digit month here, abbreviated weekday there, whatever, and then I get to B.

"What the hell is Swatch Internet time?"

/actually added the code to display swatch internet time, even though I obviously had no use for it

serial_crusher: It was a noble effort. I would have liked if it had failed.
But I'd settle for just having us all use UTC for everything. "oh no, I have to go to work at 1:00AM instead of 9:00AM now. Life is so hard!"

use 0100 and 0900 and then you don't need to worry about AM/PM ambiguity

Walker: SYNCHRONIZE SWATCHES

It was ahead of its time in the same way that Faith No More was ahead of its time.

There still isn't a DVD release of that series, is there?
