I'm not racist or anything, but look at the demographics of these felons. You can't deny that with so many more of them going to prison they must be predisposed to crime through evolution.

"Jane Farrell, age 12, stole two boots and was sentenced to 10 hard days labor."

Oh boo-farking-hoo! Ten whole days of hard labor?! Won't someone think of the children and actually punish them instead of babying them into lives of desperation and crime? When I was a kid, you got ten days for blinking during morning chapel. I once had to dig a pool at the priests house because I farted when he pulled out. A friend of mine forgot to tip his cap the archbishop and ended up spending the next three years at the bottom of a mine digging for coal with his bare hands. Don't whine to me about ten days. fark you and your ten days.

It's because she stole two boots. The sentence would have been much harsher if she had been dumb enough to steal an odd number.

judas priest, if you have made the decesion to steal something, at least steal something worthwhile like gold or silver not iron or linens.

Andy Dufresne: Maybe it's time for you to switch careers.

Tommy Williams: Huh?

Andy Dufresne: What I mean is, you don't seem to be a very good thief, maybe you should try something else

I'm guessing from the rap sheets iron was a real commodity in the 1870's.

That's odd. I thought that taking stuff other people had earned was a distinctly Democratic behavior.

Did you do all of that before or after you lost your leg saving 50 Cent's life?

2012-06-27 02:20:45 PM
We can't have any 14 days hard labor sentences anymore, there's no money to be made by private prisons with that.

2012-06-27 02:24:56 PM
14 days of hard labor? sweet! I won't have to work at the factory for two whole weeks it'll be like a vacation!

I see some of the girls were caught stealing irons. Well, how the hell else are they going to get the wrinkles out of clothing?

Sorta like stealing copper.

Looking at those pictures, those girls looked pretty rough for 13 or 14. They probably became saloon girls.

Yeah, I'm guessing not many of these kids left their hard labor to return to happy homes, reformed their ways, and went on to lives as upstanding, productive citizens.

James Scullion was sentenced to 14 days hard labor at Newcastle City Gaol for stealing clothes.

Well of course he had to steal clothes, look at his. They are falling apart. The button on his fly even seems to be broken. Or maybe he just forget to button it. One of the two.

The one I feel for is the 10 year old who spent 2 years in prison.

While separated by about 50 years, all one need do is look at Clyde Barrow to see what prison was like. He went in a petty thief and came out a sociopath. While he supposedly never detailed what happened the general consensus was that, as a young man, he was repeatedly raped. And indications are the guards either knew and didn't care or were involved. He was so messed up that his plan goal was to break out the entire prison he served in, although he only succeeded in getting a couple of friends out.

I can't even imagine what would have been done to a 10-year old.

Not sure if this is a representative sample, but lots of clothes and footwear desperados roaming about. Also the "IRON" thieves, guess iron was the copper of the 1870's

I like how most of the sentences were hard labor, imagine that. These days if inmates pick onions in Ga. or spent the night in a tent ala Sheriff Joe all you limp-wrist FARkers drag your bleeding hearts out a claim its uncivilized. Seems we are just getting to be bigger and bigger pussies.
