Me fail Nintendo? That's unpossible

I guess it's too much to ask for a really cute, fresh movie concept to not turn into seven thousand cross-promotional tie-ins.

I think by definition this project is a cross-promotional tie in.

it's whole point is 80's gamer nostalgia so of couse it's gonna have marketing tie ins

I'm surprised it isn't at least getting an XBLA or PSN release. Maybe the exclusivity is in exchange for Nintendo not suing their pants off?

I think it's a cute idea for a movie, based on the trailer. I don't particularly desire to play an actual game like that.

I still want that Simpson's Bloodsport Boxing.

You expected a game with Bison from Street Fighter, Boswer from Super Mario, Blinky from Pac-Man, Robotnik from Sony, Shuma Gorath from Marvel Super Heroes, a zombie from House of the Dead, etc wouldn't be a cross promotional title?

Also, it's GLORIOUS. I giggled like a little girl when I first saw that trailer with the "badguy therapy group".

This movie is a great idea, but the trailer is, um, not good.

It stinks, actually.

The game is an Activision Movie-Tie-In Special, and they haven't had a good one of those since Spiderman 2, so I'll pass on that as well.

*Sonic, not Sony

Well see that's why I'm disappointed. I saw it as just a really cute movie idea, and it would be bad enough if that then got turned into a toy/game-selling scheme, but the idea that it was born of that notion is even worse. Sigh.

This is Toy Story for the digital age. Of course it's going to have tie-ins, just like Toy Story had a bunch of action figures and a limited-edition Mr. Potato Head.

"John C. Reilly is best known in hilarious movies from a car racing buddy of Talladega nights to hard hitting dramas like "What's Eating Gilbert Grape" where he portrays an unfortunate Gilbert striving to survive without a father."

There are a fair bit of rumors that the exclusivity is part of a cross-license agreement, since Nintendo characters are featured pretty heavily in the film.

Poorly proofread article aside, this sounds pretty cool.

I would absolutely play this game on XBL, but i think by doing a lot of direct Nintendo based old school nods their hands are tied.

I do expect them to make fun of the current generation of gamers, the whole "Hero's Duty" part is going to make me die laughing (please make some Teabagging and Noobtoob jokes)

I think this is going to be a good way for gamer dads and moms to connect with their children about how they feel about video games, and maybe bridge the gap.

Do you really think they'd even make half of kids' movies if they weren't making a billion dollars off of merchandise?

When that frame popped up I thought my brain was about to explode. It's like anyone who had first seen the Roger Rabbit trailer for the first time back in the 80s. "Wait, what characters are in that movie? AT THE SAME TIME?!?!"

"As we know Activision team are responsible for some popular movie adaptation games like Ice Age, Iron Man and few Shrek games."

lol, that game was a pile of suck. Don't know about the Shrek and Ice Age games.

"Well for being a Family Friendly video game well never see angry parents and flying consoles out of the window ever again."

That line is hurting my brain.

I like the idea, but the trailer sucked because of the music. I would buy a dvd full of 2 hours of the antagonist therapy sessions...

This kind of game might push the limits of Nintendo's hardware.

I'm working on Wreck-It Ralph WHILE I TYPE THIS (rendering a scene so can take a minute off from Maya) so I'm really getting a kick....

Damn I always wanted to use that line....

The game or the film?

You are now one of the coolest people I know, and I don't even know you

The movie looks like it'll be a fun nostalgia trip and hopefully a good movie in and of itself. I'm planning on seeing it in theatres unless it gets all 0's on RT or something.

As for the game, like all tie-in games, it'll suck. They're all just shovelware for kids to enjoy playing as the titular characters, and unless it's a true abortion, the kids usually have fun now. I think the studios have realized the game has to at least be kinda a game, even kids have a stupid-factor limitation.

/...one of my favorite NES games was the Ronald McDonald one..

Why brag, it's not like you work for Pixar.

/That is intended to be read in a Jewish mothers voice.

The orange ghost is Clyde, not Blinky. I don't care if Namco changed it. The orange ghost is Clyde, not Blinky.

Except in this case the movie is intended to evoke nostalgia from people who played video games during the 80s and 90s. So the inclusion of classic video game characters is a feature, not a flaw.
