They put a lot of time, effort and money into developing this new feature. No one there had had one thought that it could be misused.

Seriously. There have been like 15 L&O:SVU episodes about this very thing. It's not like it's a new idea

Didn't google run into this same exact issue when they rolled out Buzz a few years back? Facebook must have a short memory. Maybe they need to look back over their timeline.

Maybe they mistakenly thought people would just unfriend creepy stalkers, instead of having anxiety attacks about unfriending people and/or rack up their friend count.

Had a similar feature on my new Android phone that I disabled immediately. It showed a map with little icons showing where my contacts were at any given moment. Why in the hell anyone would voluntarily submit to this kind of constant surveillance is beyond me.

Fear of stalking potential... or fear of our stalkees using it to realize we're right outside their homes?

Actually, the daughter of an old high school friend of mine is the absolute
spitting image of her mother at that age, and I posted a comment on a (non
naughty you pervs) pic as if it was a picture of her mother effect to much
hilarity.

Her mom is actually holding up extremely well, though, and they really could be
sisters.

/This is in no way as creepy as it sounds, I assure you.

Why are we letting the unwashed masses use computers? Shouldn't we give this a few more years to mature before we let them have it? For their own good.

How come there's not a hookup app yet? Like, "alert when single male/female in age range x-y is within 50 feet"
??
