If your electronics can't be placed in a parked car, then maybe they're not mobile electronics.

WTF does he need beyond a f*cking radio to communicate with the cops and a damned cell phone anyway?

Is he the goddamned Batman?

I'll bet a nice refreshing Big Gulp would help cool down hizzoner.

The government exempts itself from the laws its creates. How much fuel is used by the small army of the Mayor's personal security detail the accompanies him everywhere he goes?

I interpret it more as 'all politicians are hypocrites.' But then I don't see conspiracy in every headline like you spergers do.

Keeps the ice in his 64 oz. drank from melting,.

C'mon, give the poor guy a break. If he turns off the AC, the ice will melt in his 44 ounce Big Gulp and dilute his soda.

Poor Mayor Bloomberg. It might reach 100 degrees in his SUV.

It's going to reach 105 degrees here today, outside, with no climate control whatsoever.

/where can I plug in that air conditioner?

Liberalism is about control, and NYC has been all over the news lately because of that very thing.

No one NEEDS a large sugary drink... therefore it is illegal. There, control.

So the mayor should do one of two things.
1. Never go anywhere, thereby making him out of touch with his constituency.
2. Get rid of security, thereby making him a liability risk.

Do you have any solutions besides soundbites?

2012-06-27 10:59:21 AM
Well; I bet he's glad someone else pays for the gas. I also like my car at a pleasant 68 degrees; but, it also topped 110 yesterday. Sooooo, air conditioning good; politicians (whether they be donkey, elephant or a bizarro cross between) bad.

I don't see a big issue in this. It's hot, politicians wear suits and they need to stay looking sharp to keep the confidence of their constituency. People would go crazy if he went out with his pits and back soaked in sweat.

The solution is simple, NYC shouldn't have a mayor. Problem solved!

If your electronics aren't hardy enough to survive temperatures inside a parked car on a 100-degree day, then it isn't appropriate for the mayor of a city of 8 million to depend on them.

This is Bloomberg's "put the crisis operations center in WTC 7".

I would like to see a list of the equipment that supposedly is damaged by high heat when in the off condition.

I wear a suit to the office. I have a ~1 hour commute to/from work. Wear an undershirt and lose the jacket/tie during the drive, and viola! No sweat stains.

I drive a 4-door (not an SUV), so Hizzoner has more room to hang his jacket up. You campaigned for this job, Mike - you wanted it so bad, you ponied up your own cash to get it. Deal with it like a man, not a pampered pussy, especially on your constituents' dime.

We manage to park police cruisers and emergency response vehicles full of communications equipment in the sun all day down here in Texas without them spontaneously combusting in the summer.

I know this is Fark, and thus no one is expected to have read the article (especially subby), but this:

In 2009, Bloomberg apologized for letting his parked SUVs idle and stopped the practice.

The city's idling limit is three minutes.

So, this is a (bizarre) effort to keep the vehicles cool while abiding by the regulations that have been introduced under Bloomberg.

See, there really isn't a line of left and right. Based on einstein's work, we actually know that the line is a curve, twisting around the universe to meet up at some point. The extremes of left and right have simply finally one far enough that they have met at the far side.

Biggest AC hypocrite: Barbra Streisand.

During the California energy crisis, Babs suggested people leave their AC at 78 \when home and 85 when out to conserve energy.

She, on the other hand, kept her five houses and 12,000 square foot barn in the high 50's. She also keeps her NYC penthouse at 48 degrees 24/7 to "protect her furs"

He should actually take the subway around the city, instead of having city employees drive him from his home to the subway station so he can symbolically ride the 6 train a couple stops in a shameful parody of populism.

Give him and 2 bodyguards each an unlimited ride Metrocard. Total cost: $312/month.

Maybe something would be done about the dire state of the system if empowered politicians were made to face what it's like for the rest of us.

Dogpants: I'll bet Mayor Bloomberg will be surprised when he learns that he's a liberal!

This would be the same Mayor Bloomberg that was a registered Democrat up until 2001, ran and won as a Republican the same year after having the primaries postponed due to 9/11, and left the party to become an independent in 2007?

He's a liberal. Well, a liberal-leaning opportunist.

2012-06-27 01:09:09 PM
a few years ago, some conservative wrote something like:

'I will believe there is a problem when the people telling me there is a problem start acting like there is a problem.'

Pretty apt when you look at the actions of do-good blowhards like bloomberg, gore, streisand, etc., who run around telling everyone how to behave, then do the opposite for their own comfort.

/drtfa, just a general comment

Install screen windows in his SUV.

Or, they could do what I'ver already done on my Jetta, make a thermostatically controlled 12VDC fan unit that installs in the side window of the car and exhausts air from the inside of the car when it gets hot. I made it out of one of those solar powered fan units they used to sell that had all the raging power of a baby fart....
