That was a whole lot less awesome than what I expected. I was expecting John and got Yoko.

I was expecting it to be really creepy, but instead it was just boring and stupid.

My friends Teddy Ruxpin met an unfortunate end that I think was a much better and quicker work of art. It involved several neighborhood kids hiking into the back 40, a sizable quantity of homemade explosives, 1lb propane tank and a large dry creek bed. You wouldn't want to do such a thing these days as you get a visit from the ATF, put in jail, end up on a watch list till the day you die. Rather than the talking to from the town cop telling you to knock it off.

/shrapnel isn't your friend.

"It's a celebration of communication, and some other interpretations I came up with to make it seem like it's more than just a bunch of talking dolls on a wall. I'm an artist."

bakarocket: Phoenix_M: I have a sibling who was the XXXXXXX director of Worlds of Wonder and was standing next to Don Kingsborough when Teddy was introduced to the world.

/I have a funny video of WOW employees in Japan drunk and being entertained by Japanese executives (wink)

//Thanks to cops killing kids playing laser tag the company died.

///sibling is still a Silicon Valley executive

Every one of those sentences was just a completely random thought that is unconnected to the sentence before it, right? Or am I going crazy?

I don't know that those are mutually exclusive, but no, everything in the post you quoted is connected - loosely. It's okay, I'll translate, since I speak fluent stoner. The poster was relating that his/her sibling used to work for the company which made Teddy Ruxpin, and that said sibling provided a funny video of employees of that company being entertained in an apparently salacious manner by Japanese executives. Then there is some sad rumination about the event which led to the demise of that company, which involved laser tag and police and killing, somehow (even I'm not very clear on that part). Then there is the detail that the sibling still works in the industry, though necessarily at a different company.

I was half expecting a wall of screaming, burbling, babbling electronic wrecks endlessly bellowing racist slurs and imageboard memes while flames danced in the background and people sobbed offscreen.

In other words, the perfect real-life simulation of 4chan. You have disappointed me for the last time, Internet.

Me too. Is it bad that I was actively disappointed that this wasn't the case?

Not nearly enough ranting, raging, frothing, and screams of "THE JEWS DID 9/11" along with a peppering of racial slurs.

It took most kids very little time at all to realize Teddy would play ANY cassette, not just the inane story tapes provided.

Before long Teddy Ruxpin was merrily regaling us with Slayer's "Reign in Blood," his mechanical lips straining to catch up to the beat, a growing awareness dawning in his dead eyes.
